Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
There's talk that Kari Lehtonen may be ready, or is at least coming back to practice. I'd keep an eye on that situation.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
if you bachman on your roster, start him vs the bjs, there is a good chance he might be in since nilstorp played last nite.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I'm indifferent about the likelihood of him starting. It doesn't matter as I have the open spot in my lineup, i'm trying to decide if he's worth starting or if it would be detrimental. I'm well aware of the schedule.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
C - Getzlaf, Lecavalier, Berglund
LW - Zetterberg, Marleau, Duchene, Clowe, Pouliot
RW - Perry, Wheeler, Little, Franzen, Hemsky
D - Kronwall, Seabrook, Visnovsky, Zidlicky, Giordano, Faulk, Diaz
G - Smith, Luongo, Neuvirth, MacDonald, Bishop
Farm: Granlund, Kuznetsov, J.T. Miller, Greening, Paajarvi, Hartikainen, Kostka, R. Wilson, J. Gibson
Going for it hard this year. With that in mind, do you trade:
Perry
Duchene
Hemsky
MacDonald
Granlund
Kuznetsov
to get
St. Louis
M. Koivu
Callahan
Boyle
Leddy
Anderson
Note: Goalies are very hard to come by in this league and hits are counted (Cally vs. Perry relevant).

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I'm holding onto Duchene carefully in the keeper league, I just think he's about to blow up. There is nothing behind that though. Like Koivu a lot, especially with Parise and Heatley. Its really hard to weigh a trade with that many players.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Yeah it is. That's why I'm looking for other sets of eyes.
I'm very torn on Duchene. I think this might be the best time to sell him. Right now he is playing at ppg pace (~80 points seems to be his ceiling, I think) and, more importantly in this league, he is better than a hit and blocked shot per game pace, which is dramatically increasing his value in this league. Right now he's pacing for a hit/block season on par with Ryan Kesler and 80 point player. I don't know that he can ever top that. The Duchene trade is Duchene, Kuznetsov, Hemsky for St. Louis, Koivu, Leddy. That seems like a pretty strong return.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Its just a straight keep 17 + 9 farm. Basically you lose your bench each year. start 17 (3xF positions, 6D, 2G)
Edit: Farm is < 200 GP (forward) < 100 GP (goalie).

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Perry > St. Louis
Duchene > M. Koivu
Hemsky < Callahan
MacDonald (STL? He's injured) < Boyle
Granlund > Leddy
Kuznetsov < Anderson
Is how I would look at it, IMO.
That's also me attempting to look at it in a keeper league fashion, looking forward.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I'd do it, then i'd try to flip St Louis for something next year if he got off to a good start. Koivu is a sustainable add at center, probably better moving forward once Parise settles in with that team, especially if they continue to add. Heatley has to improve also...I think.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Hemsky is barely worth a roster spot, to be honest. So that's essentially like giving up nothing.
I think I break it down as:
(this year value)
Callahan < Perry
St. Louis >> Duchene
Koivu >>> Granlund
Boyle >> Giordano (my drop)
Leddy >>> Kuznetsov
Anderson >>> (Joey) MacDonald
I think the tough question is whether (1) the long-term value of Duchene/Granlund/Kuz and (2) the top 5 fantasy player upside of Perry is enough to not do the deal.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Yeah, I was thinking that I could flip St. Louis and Anderson/Bishop both in future seasons if I'm struggling. Anderson is a huge part of this deal, though. Right now I am 5-0, probably about the third best team. And that is with only 1 regular starter (Smith). So, a bit of luck there with Luongo's strong stretch and the amazing start from Zetterberg, Duchene, etc.Idoit40fans wrote:I'd do it, then i'd try to flip St Louis for something next year if he got off to a good start.
To give an idea of how hard it is to get goalies in this league, I inquired about Bobrovsky at the start of the season and the guy responded "Getzlaf, Perry, Wheeler, Duchene are the names I would consider."

This would be an easier decision, had you not decided to create such a complicated trade.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
If Duchene maintained this pace and Koivu hits his almost without fail points numbers in this league, Koivu represents 85% of what Duchene produces. And he's only 29.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Yeah dropping Duchene is fine with Koivu coming back, you still have 3 centers that you can get good production out of for a good while. How many people are in that league? 10?

Are there teams that have like 3 and 4 legit starters in goal?

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Yes. Basically every goalie imaginable is owned. I couldn't even pick up Chad Johnson whenever Smith got hurt for those few games. The goalies who have seen NHL action this year who are available are:Idoit40fans wrote:Are there teams that have like 3 and 4 legit starters in goal?
Ellis, Budaj, Garon, Giguere, Biron, Irving, Labarbera, Mason, Clemmenson, Boucher, Leighton, Dipietro.
Because the farm eligibility is so high for goalies (100 GP is a ton) teams are able to tie down many, many goalies.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
So, start Bobrovsky against Dallas or not?
Pros:
-Bobrovsky can single-handedly win a game for the Jackets.
-Dallas just played last night and lost in OT. May be tired.
Cons:
-Dallas has some scorers
-The Jackets are a nightmare defensively, even more now that Wisniewski is out with a broken foot and Jack Johnson is hurt (not that he makes a difference)

I'm thinking about starting Bob over Smith (@ Van) tonight. I'd definitely start him if I had an empty spot for him.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Bob-O has owned Dallas all three times he's played them in his career...add that to your pros. Just trying to even it up with that last con, it's a meaty one...MRandall25 wrote:So, start Bobrovsky against Dallas or not?

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Not sure starting Bachman was a good idea, but at least I got a win out of it and Miller went nuts to offset the GAA and SV% hit I took. Bachman has been dropped.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I started Bob over Smith last night....dumb. That's overthinking it.
Completed the Perry trade but the other GM is getting cold feet on the Duchene/Koivu+MSL swap. Wouldn't be the end of the world except two of the other top teams have basically commented that the Perry trade is going to kick off an arms race, so I hope that neither of them land MSL.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
My team in a league that keeps +/- is already -18 on the week. Oof.
Luckily, I have the highest scoring team in the league (1st in goals, assists, and PP points) to win me the other categories.
