You guys remember that time Hossa didn't sign with us and then signed with DET who we just lost to and then we beat him even though he was just cup chasing ??? We should talk about that

That was actually one sweet reminder. Before the 08/09 season the dream scenario, like one of the sweetest dreams ever, was the Pens facing DET again and beating them and Hossa. Then it happens....HAH!

Yes, but in that dream Orpik knocked Hossa out for the entire series.

Instead, he just never showed up.
I still contend that Orpik's hit on hossa in game one did knock him out for the entire series...or atleast left his shoulder pretty mangled and made him afraid of contact.
Hossa should have gotten the shoulder scoped before it became a complete rotator cuff tear. I can't understand how he beared the pain when signing the Hawks contract.

Couldn't have been any worse than the pain Hawks fans felt when they realized they're going to lose the Cup for the next 12 years.

Their cap issues are next year mostly. LTIR for Hossa for this season helping is doubtful.
They need either Bob Gainey to make a dumb trade for Huet/Campbell or hope those guys get career ending injuries. They really risk losing at least 2/3 of Toews, Kane, and Keith next year.
Kane made himself easier to move this summer, and I'll bet Toews takes a pretty big hometown discount if they make another run this May. Keith will be gone.
