Where does Hossa go now? Not many competitors with the cap room to sign him. Which team will make a play? Montreal? Minnesota? Los Angeles? This will be interesting.

If Hossa is only looking for $6MM per...I think LA should pounce all over that...

Hossa to PIT. 5 million a year? Do IT. But I bet no one on the team would talk to him.

He'd have to be the juice boy and serve gatorade for an indefinite period of time.

I'm sure if anything happens we'll all be some of the firsts to know about it.

I can't let you know. It may alter the events of this time, creating an alternate world, where my dad was shot, my mom got fake boobs, my significant other is left on the porch of some black family in the ghetto, and Biff owns the town.

I will just keep the information to myself.

Wings have made their final offer, deadline is Wednesday. I honestly don't care what he does, I actually don't think it would be in Detroit's best interests to be too accommodating to keep him, but it's a bit of deja vu to see Holland waiting for him to **** or get off the pot.

If they offered Hossa $4-4.5MM annual...don't waste your time or Hossa's time...That's borderline insulting...come one...

If you can't afford him then just admit it was a 1 year thing and move on...I'd be shocked if Hossa signed that, he shouldn't...

LA or Montreal will probably offer him $7.5MM per on Wed...

Yeah, it's pretty much the same situation as here last year. Except our deal was decent. But how Holland moves forward will be dictated on Hossa's answer, and in the process, he may lose a few players.

How would people react if Hossa took the long term, $4M hit per year deal with Detroit?

If Hossa took that, that would be shocking...That is a ton of money to walk away from...$3.5MM + per year to stay in Detroit? I want to win the cup too, but you can't be foolish...

For me, same as when he bailed from here. He could sign for two nickels and a donut anywhere else and it doesn't change the fact that he wanted to play somewhere else.

It would be hilarious to me actually. The Pens gave him a super offer and he turned it down for less money, then he is going to sign a long term deal for half what the Pens offered! That is pretty funny. That is why I don't think he will take 4 mill/year. The NHLPA would throw a fit also if he did.

i'll bet the contract looks something like this:

year 1: 7 mil
year 2: 7 mil
year 3: 7 mil
year 4: 7 mil
year 5: 7 mil
year 6-10: 1 mil

i'm sure they have some evil scheme to let the player rework his contract (yes, i know it's illegal but i'm sure there is some loophole they've found) after the 5th year. maybe he "retires" for 5 seconds and then comes back????

The salary can't drop that much. That deal is illegal. At least that is my understanding.

But I definitely agree that it would be frontloaded.
