How is it greedy? He is going to a great team for a reasonable salary.

Don't be bitter.
Remember nan...I made that post before I knew the money numbers...really I expected like one year for 9.5....seriously surprised he took 7.4...I am not bitter...Im jealous...I'm a teacher and make 40k...haha

I don't know if that is possible with Hossa on that team now. They may set a record for wins in a season, and then not lose a playoff game.
I'll be surprised if they let anyone come within 3 goals in a game next year.

I'm SO SO SO SO dissapointed in Hossa.

Sign me up to BOO him loudly.

I don't want to hear about a chance to win. PIT was on the verge of winning too. PIT gave him all 3 of his issues and he chose DET.

Have fun Marion because Osgood isn't going to get it done this year.
He said he'd take less money to play for a winner, and never mentioned length. He said exactly what he was going to do.

sheros patience is not looking good now - the Pens will be forced to overpay after doing very little so far

Unbelievable. I've never been so hurt by a player doing the right thing.

Does anyone start to question, maybe if Therrien was not here he would have resigned? We are losing just about everyone after being so close to a championship. He stayed true to his word and signed with a contender and didn't take one of those huge offers some other teams we're supposedly offering. The Pens may have even offered more and longer term. If that is any kind of tiebreaker, I would certainly rather play for Babcock than Therrien. We'll see what happens when the dust settles and whether anyone else comes back or comes here, but if we lose out even if we are close, you can't help, but wonder.

/agree. this is so annoying. people are mad that he's not in pittsburgh, i get that. but he's proving that he wants to win instead of taking a payday. while im not a fan of his decision, i understand why he did it.
Really? Sure he's taking a risk of getting injured or not performing well. But if he puts up good numbers, which shouldn't be a problem with the Wings, he has a chance at a cup and a huge contract next year. I don't think he's necessirily giving up one thing for the other...maybe for one year.

TRAITOR!!!

But really, $7.4 million???

For ONE year???

You mean to tell me Shero couldn't have matched THAT?? Even gone above it??

But hey, you add the best forward in FA to a team that good, they're a lock to win the Cup. Heck, they might sweep the playoffs, after winning 70 games in the regular season.

If I don't learn that Shero at least offered to match that, I'm going to be calling for his head.

What's odd is he could have done that with the Pens.

taking the same amount or less he would have gotten here and less years is hardly selling out. I'm pissed he's going but he's been a Pen for all of 3 and a half months, he hardly sold out

it's a great move by Detroit and a pretty smart bet by Hossa.

It's not odd if he didn't feel like he could do it with the Pens.

Well, he definitely meant it about not being all about the money. ONE YEAR???? That's incredible.

Detroit is going to be real scary next season.
