I actually didn't want to re-sign Hossa because I thought we could get 2 or 3 very good players for the money he was comanding. But this? Wow, this hurts. Detroit?!?!?!?! Really?!?!?!! This sucks

I'm sort of ok with him leaving to Detroit, but if that number ends up being true, I think I'm going to vomit.

People are probably saying that after we signed Crsoby and Malkin to huge deals.

Now the Pens have an incentive to beat Detroit next year in the cup finals! Wouldn't that be sweet?

one year, it just keeps getting worse

The Pens could have given him 8 or 9 for one year and been alright with the cap

I think he wants to have the guarantee to be a Selky nominee. It seems to be automatic once you go to Detroit.

i take back all the "HOOOOSSSSAAAAA"s I let out this year.
I like Hossa, and if he went anywhere else I'd be cool with that, but now I must hate him because he's part of the Redwings... bummer

For someone who claimed they wanted a long term deal, more money, and to win, Hossa chose the deal that only gave him ONE of his 3 issues.

I'm SO SO SO SO dissapointed in Hossa.

Sign me up to BOO him loudly.

I don't want to hear about a chance to win. PIT was on the verge of winning too. PIT gave him all 3 of his issues and he chose DET.

Have fun Marion because Osgood isn't going to get it done this year.

How is it greedy? He is going to a great team for a reasonable salary.

Don't be bitter.

I don't know if that is possible with Hossa on that team now. They may set a record for wins in a season, and then not lose a playoff game.

Hossa takes a calculated risk in a ttempt to win a Cup. More power to him. The worst-case scenario for him would be another knee injury (history there) that makes him less attractive as a UFA in 09 and the Wings don't win the Cup.

If anyone blames Shero on this, they're nuts. He was likely getting played by Hossa (or more likely Winter) just as much as everyone else.

/agree. this is so annoying. people are mad that he's not in pittsburgh, i get that. but he's proving that he wants to win instead of taking a payday. while im not a fan of his decision, i understand why he did it.
