Obviously, there's still time for things to change, but so far, the big adds are Hayes and Grzelcyk, and Joseph is apparently gone. That actually makes the Pens older and doesn't add a ton of skill. I can get taking Hayes, since he came with a 2nd-rounder, but why not just play the young guys in the system, even if they're mediocre, instead of stocking up with more mediocre 30+ guys?

The only plausible reason for looking at Beauvillier and Grzelcyk is if KD is hoping to accelerate the team into the draft lottery.

Seems like the plan is to sign veterans who had a down year. Hope they bounce back and we trade them for picks at the deadline...

This is what I don't understand. GMKD says they want to get younger and faster. Grizzly or whatever his name is for Joseph makes them older and slower. Same with Hayes replacing whoever he would be. They are in full tank mode if you ask me. It started with losing Guentzel. You do have to at least wonder is Sid will change his mind on not playing anywhere else when he sees these types of moves.

That would at least instill some hope in me for the upcoming season. I get enough disappointment during the regular season so I don’t need more in the off-season. Sorry, having a bad day.

Kase was a good 3rd liner with 20 goal ability, but his career was derailed by concussions. Dubas signed him in Toronto in 21-22. He put up 14 goals, 27 points in 50 games, but from February 2022 to October 2022, he may have had 4 concussions. The one in October was game 1 of the 22-23 season with Carolina.
