How about Seattle takes Sullivan and we give them a 3rd rounder?Puck-Lurker wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 2:27 pmHow about... Seattle takes Sullivan and gives us a 3rd rounder?

While not spelled out by the Penguins or CapFriendly, based on the structure CapFriendly has listed, it's a two-way. Shows 100K salary in the AHL for year 1 and 325k salary in the AHL for year 2.
Poulin doesn't have any waiver eligibility left, so if he doesn't make the NHL team, the Penguins will risk losing him on waivers.

In all honesty, if he can't punch his ticket to the Big Team, does it really matter at this point if he is waived? Maybe the failed system has impeded / stunted his chances? Just curious.FLPensFan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 11:04 pmWhile not spelled out by the Penguins or CapFriendly, based on the structure CapFriendly has listed, it's a two-way. He's had some personal issues as well as some injuries. Not sure of the specifics, but I believe he was away from the team last year for either depression/anxiety or substance abuse. It's not the system (the fave goto for fans).BigMcK wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 12:12 amIn all honesty, if he can't punch his ticket to the Big Team, does it really matter at this point if he is waived? It was mental health issues, and, he also got unlucky and was one of the players who got severely sick. So, when he got called up, played 3 games, then didn't play again...it wasn't a "healthy scratch" situation. He was sick. Dubas mentioned in his end of the season presser that it was a shame, because that was supposed to be Poulin's look and reward for his good play.Pitts wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 9:50 amHe's had some personal issues as well as some injuries. Re: Random Penguins Fodder
Full disclosure I know nothing...never having played.
For Coach Sullivan,
Accepting a couple players who are physical and can initiate a hit would be a change. Other teams know there is free roaming all over the ice.
They needed a coach before and during Jake's trade. He was MIA along with players.
With the addition and playing of Bunting, they did change their power play. There was word out they were practicing something new.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
Was watching some highlights from the cup years. Losing Kessel really hurt this team, specifically on the power play. He was the one player on the PP that could basically score from anywhere because his shot was so good.
We have not come close to replacing Kessel. I think the primary goal of the off-season is to get a shooter. A true sniper top 6 forward. One who can score from 30 feet out with a snap shot and rip one-timers on the power play. Stamkos would actually be the perfect type of player for us right now. I just don't see him leaving Tampa, or wanting to come here. Unless he wants to play with Sid. Which would rule.
Reinhart is another sniper who has a great shot. But he's going to get a major pay day.
Pens are always great on expected goals, but they can't finish because they lack true goal scorers, and don't go to the net nearly enough. Save for Bunting.
Maybe there could be something to Laine, if he's ready to play.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
That's pretty much how I feel about Poulin. His development was probably bungled a bit, and he's had bad luck with injuries/mental health issues, but he's 23 and has only played 6 NHL games. I'd guess that statistically guys at that age with that few games have pretty low chances of becoming an impactful NHLer. Maybe college players are exceptions, but for high draft picks who go from Junior to the AHL, it's generally not a good trajectory.BigMcK wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 12:12 amIn all honesty, if he can't punch his ticket to the Big Team, does it really matter at this point if he is waived? Kevin Weekes with the eyeballs + Bryant McFadden eyeballs from yesterday for steelers.
I would be happy with Sid's new contract.
Not a winter game, not the all star game.

I'd be happy with any kind of change. PWHL would be exciting, too.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
I hope it's more than that!
I don't think we can announce a Sid extension until July 1st. It wouldn't be a trade. Would think it's coaching related. Seems to be a little bit of smoke about Sullivan and the Devils out there.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
I'm just not sure who's out there who would be an improvement, and how much that would upset the big guys. Can we make trades with non-playoff teams right now?

I’m confused. Is Weekes commenting on the state of Pittsburgh bridges or something hockey related?
