We have two used today, if Carter is the final deal of the day and we have one spot left then what’s the problem? We get the two used on UFA’s back when their contracts expire. Would maybe handcuff a draft day deal but depends if it resets after the season is over or free agency since players aren’t paid past the last day of the last game.Coffey Break wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:57 amIt doesn't matter. Yea. BUTTT, if the return is big enough and you are realistic about the rebuilding process. But, it would definitely need to be a huge return.DelPen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:58 amYou can’t eat $5 million a year for 3 more years after this. That’s **** stupid rebuilding or not.lemieuxReturns wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:57 amI don't understand what you are saying about Sullivan.DelPen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:54 amI can’t imagine that Sullivan would make more than 50% of Karlsson would and Sullivan would be hired ASAP unless he wants to take off and focus on Team USA for the next two years but that’s doubtful.lemieuxReturns wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:51 am I wonder what EK at 50% retained would net us? Maybe that would be the move to bring in the BIG prospects.
I want to see what Karlsson does under a new coach before I panic trade him.
Keeping a guy like EK is pointless if you are rebuilding. If the organization is in denial about rebuilding at this point, we are in some real trouble.

Because hopefully there are bigger trades today that would help us than using it on Carter. I would be ok if this is done at the final minute of the deadline and we have not used the retention spot yet.DelPen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:00 amWe have two used today, if Carter is the final deal of the day and we have one spot left then what’s the problem? I guess it depends on the return and what you need available to move Reilly Smith and/or Lars Eller. I would rather remove any bloated contracts that are here beyond this season - start the purge now and restart in the offseason.DelPen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:00 amWe have two used today, if Carter is the final deal of the day and we have one spot left then what’s the problem? Unless the return would warrant it (which I doubt would be much), why bother with moving Carter with retention at this point? He's only here for another 20 or so games and then his contract is up. I'd rather move Reilly Smith so he's not a $5 million boat anchor next season. Or, if there was a way - move Graves too!

Exactly that. Agree with you and lemiuexreturns above. If Carter is the only deal left and we have the open retention spot still left, sure. Assuming Carter wants to be moved, etc..maopens wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:06 am Unless the return would warrant it (which I doubt would be much), why bother with moving Carter with retention at this point? But prioritize Smith/Eller for that retention if you need it. Get picks and cap space to re-tool this summer.

Going to go grab some chicken fajitas at my favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch and take the rest of the day off. Hopefully we can get excited for this next chapter in the organization that we are about to live through.

Big grain. Yohe's article has a Tuesday date on it. I ignored the post and immediately stopped following them.Cow_Master66 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:09 am Grain of salt needed....

That's not very much for him. He has 26 goals this year.KG wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:54 am2nd and 3rd round pick is the rumored return.Three Stars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:35 am

I heard somewhere that pure rentals don’t get much of a return.largegarlic wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:04 pmThat's not very much for him. He has 26 goals this year.KG wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:54 am2nd and 3rd round pick is the rumored return.Three Stars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:35 am

Looks to be a buyer market this year. For rentals that is almost always the case.largegarlic wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:04 pmThat's not very much for him.
