I'm the opposite. I really would rather miss the playoffs, and finish poorly enough to get a top 10 pick this year. I don't see Crosby having the type of regression that Malkin has started to have.thehockeyguru wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 11:30 amBest case scenario is they sell and still make the playoffs. I really want to give SJ our 2024 1st that is a late teens early 20s pick. We could be worse next year if Crosby regressesAntonio wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 10:59 am Yeah sad as it is, winning the last 3 is actually the worst thing they could be doing for the longer term health of the team. Creating the temporary illusion they could do something is a terrible delusion. They need to firmly lean into selling, not imagining a reality that doesn't exist based on a few games.
Trade Jake, get a young forward in return, plus a 1st next year to replace what we lose to SJ, plus a good prospect.
Swap Reilly Smith for someone else, like a Mikheyev or Bunting.
Then draft a top 10 guy this summer.
Good starting point on next season for me.
