I would take Duchene for sure. Maybe he signs a 1-year type deal.
Duchene put up 56 points last season and 86 the season before. Why would they buy him out? The predators pay 7.5M in 24/25 and 5.8M in 25/26 on just buyouts. Those numbers are horrendous.

I think because he is rumored to be a jerk and bad teammate. If they are willing to take those hits cap wise, I will tend to agree with the rumors.lemieuxReturns wrote:I would take Duchene for sure. Maybe he signs a 1-year type deal.

Turris is added in those totals, but yea... still huge hits for Duchene.Skatingpen wrote:I think because he is rumored to be a jerk and bad teammate. $2.2 million over if you count Lehner, $2.7 under if he stays on LTIR.thehockeyguru wrote:That should push Vegas over the cap by a good amountville5 wrote:Aidin Hill signing official. 2 years, $4.95 million.

And that's counting 9 defensemen. Plus they have 3 insignificant RFAs. So actually not too bad.DelPen wrote:$2.2 million over if you count Lehner, $2.7 under if he stays on LTIR.thehockeyguru wrote:That should push Vegas over the cap by a good amountville5 wrote:Aidin Hill signing official. 2 years, $4.95 million.

Can anyone explain to me the point of the Detroit-Edmonton deal? Can anyone tell me how this IS NOT considered cap circumvention.
Detroit gets Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin rights for future considerations(nothing) going back to Edmonton.
Detroit buys out Yamamoto.
Detroit non-tenders Kostin and he becomes UFA.
So Detroit trades nothing to take on 2 years of Yamamoto buyout cap hit.
Edmonton pays nothing to do it. Edmonton just avoided having to pay Yamamoto his 3.1M salary this year or the buyout cap hit.

Word of signings already starting to come out. Quick to the Rangers and Reaves to the Leafs.

Because it’s allowed under the CBA. The only thing I’m not clear on is future considerations, I saw someone say that’s no longer allowed but this is at least the 2nd deal in the last week that has it.FLPensFan wrote:Can anyone explain to me the point of the Detroit-Edmonton deal? Have there ever been a trade that have connected to a previous ”future consideration” trade?

Detroit just signed Kostin 2 year $2mil AAV. Guess that puts this one to bed. League should stop with Future Considerations as the return. Just do a conditional 7th round pick or something.FLPensFan wrote:Can anyone explain to me the point of the Detroit-Edmonton deal? Can anyone tell me how this IS NOT considered cap circumvention.

Despite some interest in Hellebuyck, it’s more likely the Devils target a UFA depth goalie to play 30-35 games. Goaltending isn’t a weakness in New Jersey, they’re happy to run with what they have or add a bit of depth.

Sounds like Toronto is giving Reaves 3 years $1.3AAV. Good for Reaves. Last contract most likely.

He was bloody awful last year, unfortunately. Acquiring him would be with an eye towards rehabbing his career.DelPen wrote:That's a move I'd have liked to see Dubas make.KG wrote:OEL to the Panthers sounds like..

Leafs giving Reaves a 3 year deal when he's 36. That seems rather stupid.
