This Steelers o-line might legitimately be the worst one in the history of the NFL.

It appears that neither team wants to win this game.

If Watt is done for the season, they might not have to try to hard to tank it.

I hope Cowher takes a huge victory lap and buries Boomer on pregame next week. Boomer was obnoxious the whole morning.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Initial reports are that Watt will not need surgery and will be back mid season. Hope that’s true.
I’m willing to give Mitch a few more games to get the offense going but he needs to make some plays. Yes, the line is **** but simply not being horrible at QB should not cause him to keep his spot unless they are concerned that Pickett will get killed behind this line.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
I think the offense is a work in progress. New offensive line coach, 2 new OL players, OC is able to create his own offense for the first time. If they can be above .500 for the 1st half of the season, I think the 2nd half will be better as the OL gels, Mitch gets more confidence within the system, and Canada realizes what he has to work with. If they’re below .500 and struggling, I think we’ll see Pickett ending the season.DelPen wrote:Initial reports are that Watt will not need surgery and will be back mid season. Hope that’s true.

Mitch defined game manager Sunday, which is fine for now. As the OL gels and (hopefully) improves, Mitch gets less and less excuses. For now, the old saying of an ugly win is better than a pretty loss is accurate. Now Mitch knows what it’s like to be a Steeler and I think he’ll be fine.
As a side note, Jaylen Warren was pretty impressive and I hope he can spell Harris enough throughout the season so he doesn’t get worn down.

I’m just about done with Mitch. I don’t think anyone else would look worse and he’s not executing basic things well at all.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Witherspoon tried to catch a ball instead of doing the simple knock down and ends up bouncing it up to a well covered WR to give up a TD.

In all fairness, if Mitch can’t get them in the end zone the muff doesn’t matter. So far this season the best offense for the Steelers is the defensive scoring.DelPen wrote:If that muff happens in preseason Gunner is cut.
Just as I say this they get some kind of rhythm.

Hard time blaming the defense today. Offense is just so so bad.

I do get it to some extent, pretty much a new offense now. However, did they even attempt a pass over 20 yards today? If Mitch is supposed to have good mobility surely they can scheme a roll out to the right and a deep pass once in awhile. The OL seems to be getting better and will likely improve as the season goes on, but Mitch is still Mitch. He seems to have the skill level but is lacking in guts.

Mitch throws off his back foot constantly. He really doesn’t have it. Never did for the NFL.

I’m not in the bring in Kenny crowd and would rather wait until Tomlin finds the right time to do it but I can’t see this offense being any worse with Kenny than it is now.Grunthy wrote:Mitch throws off his back foot constantly. He really doesn’t have it. Never did for the NFL.

Bush is still horrible. Can’t fill a gap. Can’t make a tackle. Can’t drop back and cover soft passes over the middle.

So without Watt the only thing the other team needs to do is not throw near Fitzpatrick.

Trubisky is doing much better, but have you guys ever seen a QB with worse mechanics than him? He’s never set and might define happy feet.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
If Harvin is only going to punt that ball 32 yards he should had done it 5 yards closer to the end zone. What a waste of a chance to pin them inside their own 10. Things you should never do in the draft is select a punter in any round and also don’t pick a 5th QB who is also the 2nd in the same draft who you cut after camp.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Watt or no Watt, his presence or lack there off should not impact the effectiveness of teams running the ball right up the middle. The defensive line and the ILB’s are total trash and have been for a few years now.
