Missed game 1. This work thing is troubling. On to game 2.

Rally time. To paraphrase Ernie Banks - It's a good day to raise two.

It's like we just can't get any closer.

I know there's another team out there trying to claw up in the standings, but man, it's frustrating.

Bucs get screwed (imo) out of a run. Montero was blocking the plate.

I shouldn't have watched the replay, because now I'm angry.

Amazing what can change in 24 hours: Back to 4 games back of the Cards for the division, back to only 3 games up on the Cubs for first WC.

A disaster of a day: Bucs lose 9-6, giving up 6 runs one inning (the 6th). SIX. Five earned by Charlie. Bucs commit another 2 errors.

Oh, and Kang sustains a knee injury and leaves the game.

Just what you can't see this time of year.

DK says Kang out for the year with tibial plateau fracture, torn MCL, and torn meniscus.

I can't believe it. I'm so upset.

Buccos have the 2nd best record in baseball and most likely, will need to win a 1 game playoff to advance. Kinda stinks.

Totally stinks. I don't like it either. Thanks, Bud Selig!

It just ticks me off more when I think of all those games vs. the Brewers (and Reds) that the Bucs have dropped along the way.

Bucs can beat Arrieta and the Cubs, if it comes to that. It would be nice to avenge Jung Ho's injury, at which I'm still steamed.

I hate to quote a Philly Flyer here, but Ed Van Impe was once quoted as saying: "You have your whole career to get even".

I am thinking the Cubs will be on Clint Hurdle's mind next year. And when one of the Bucco pitcher's drills a Cubbee next year, Clint will respond: "Hey, that's baseball".

So is Melancon, sorta. First, a surprisingly emotional celebration at the end of the game and then saying, "Our fans are better."

Cubs fans furious on both counts. Cubs fans, your team took out Jung-Ho. Sit down.

Cards fall to the Brewers tonight at home. Rosenthal gave up a HR to Khris Davis in T9th.

Bucs leave 'em loaded in the T5th. The Pittsburgh Kid whiffs at ball 4 for the 3rd out. Can't get everyone in, but you can't blow opportunities vs. these Cubs, either. These Cubs make me uneasy, to say the least. They're also total @#*%s.

Hold on, Buccos and get some insurance!

Now's our chance to close the gap. The Cards choked in the 9th today in a large way. Their ace reliever Rosenthal was tagged for a grand slam.

Am I being overly sensitive, or is A.J. really getting squeezed like I think he is?

Does anyone else have a bad feeling for the wild card game? Just watching Arrieta pitch, and how the buccos can't get the bats going against him, it makes me nervous/uneasy.

They've hit against him before. He's a good pitcher having a stellar run, and deserves accolades, but he's not all of a sudden completely made of Teflon. He's also getting a more generous strike zone than A.J. so far. Arrieta's getting veteran-level respect. #NoConspiracy

Bucs need to just keep this within a couple, settle down, and figure him out.

I think what it's going to come down to is this: If you don't want to face Arrieta in a one-and-done, then you do what you need to do so you don't face him in a one-and-done. Eke this game out first and win 3-2 with small ball or 1 swing with 2 on, I don't care.

Welp. Looks like that's game. Cubs 5-0 in B7th. Caminero gives up a 2-out, 3-run dinger.

Edit: Upon further review, it's a 2-run double. Cutch's brain fart didn't help.

It would be amazing to think the never-say-die Buccos could bat around in the next two and have a semimonster inning or two. They've done it before, and if the Brewers can do it today vs. Rosenthal, then the Bucs can do it vs. the Cubs' 'pen. It just doesn't feel like a late miracle comeback is in the stars tonight.

This game. I hate it. So much.

How many times are we going to leave the bases loaded? How inept can our offense suddenly be? What's the over/under on Bucco TOOTBLANs in one game? How lucky as hell can the Cards get?

And then Hurdle takes out Happ, who's 1-hitting the Cards, after 6 and only 56-7 pitches.

Now the Cards see an opening, finally have guys on the corners (thanks, Soria!) after doing jack all night except trying their damnedest to give the game away early, and we can all pretty much write the script from there. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm too worked up to even scream. Help me, guys! Help meeeeeeeeeee!

Update: Wow. Got out of that. I'm just gonna sit over here <points to off this board> and be quiet. Sorry.

Bucs have left 14 (not a typo) on base through 8. Making the Cards pitchers work hard, too, but to no avail.

It's gonna be something stupid that wins this game; we can only hope it's in our favor.

Cards pitchers have been nothing special tonight. If the Bucs had even their average offense tonight, then they'd be sitting pretty. Instead, we get Pedro going up vs. a lefty with 2 out and bases loaded for the 4th time, and, you can take it from there.

Meanwhile, Piscotty is in a local hospital (AGH, maybe?) after a horrific collision with Bourjos as Bourjos made a catch. Bourjos' knee--bam--to the head. Awful to see. Knocked out cold. Carted off. Hope he doesn't have a serious head injury. I don't know how Bourjos' knee is OK.
