At least they weren't swept, but yet another series loss to a division opponent. I'm really starting to loathe the Reds.

Marte's stealing home was hilarious. Nice series win. Now, if the Cards would only lose some games...

We're headed to the bottom of the 13th in DET. Our Bucs just blew what feels like their 23,574th chance to win this game after what feels like an equal number of chances to blow it open. 18 LOB (so far). I'm feeling a tough loss coming, especially since the Cards actually lost tonight.

Oh, biy, Gorkys...off to Indy with you!

Edit: Bucs win in 14!!! RAISE IT!!!

Greg Brown just yelled "Raise the Jolly Roger in Detroit" so loud that people in the press box were startled. It was tremendous.

So going into this 4 game series vs. STL we are 4.5 games out, with the 3rd best win percentage in MLB.

Looking ahead to the trade deadline this team has UFA's in Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker. It will be interesting to see what this team does to improve. I could see them adding a RF or a 1B/3B to push Kong into a utility role. I dont think that they will look to a add a starter.

Thoughts?

thg, I'm really having a hard time coming up with a thought other than "screw the Cardinals."

Seriously, though, do you think J-Hay's 7-week absence will affect a plan to "utilitize" Kang?

I don't think they'll add a starter, either. Locke's outing tonight may be a harbinger of things to come on that front.

But something must be done with 1B.

8-) I didn't know what was going on with him. I can admire him being thick skin to not care about folks opinion.

Everyone in Pittsburgh should treat themselves to a Cole pitching- bucco game.

:thumb: penny, were you there last night? I hope to see a Cole Train game someday! We've waited so long to have a guy like him. He's come into his own, and it's been awesome to see.

Reynolds strikes out on a clear swing and miss, but the umps (all of them) screw up and say it was a foul tip (IT WASN'T). Inning should've been over. Not reviewable. OK. So, next pitch? HR. Cervelli and Hurdle tossed!

There's incompetence, and then there's the added insult of this crap happening to the Bucs vs. the Cards.

Second time in a week A. J. gets messed over.

Edit: Bottom of 14th...what a game. Cutch happened!

The umpire involved said he "heard" a foul tip. That means his hearing is as bad as his eyesight.

To blow a call like that and also have a short fuse makes him look like a fool. He needs to find a job where his senses of touch or smell are required.

I just heard the news on Jordy...any updates?

I started the MLB.tv video feed just in time to see the bad guys take the lead, 2-1. Ugh.

Let's go Mets.

This series with the Brewers is not at all what the doctor ordered. This series is like pestilence and plague. Meanwhile, the Cards have been taking care of business vs. the Mets, so it's like the Bucs' amazing comebacks are erased.

Hope Jordy isn't out for the season.

No updates yet, but it looks bad.

Bats have been cool, but the pitching hasn't done the Bucs any favors at all. Giving up the store in late innings.

Good to see the Pirates not doing anything about getting bullied yet again. So pathetic.

What a horrible way to start off the "second half" against a horrible horrible team.

Cards have a guy on in the bottom of the 9th at home. No doubt they'll figure out how to pull out this game, since they're almost unbeatable at home, and the Bucs will be back to 5.5 out again after today. I'm not at all looking forward to the Royals' series.

Can we turn back the clock to last Sunday night?

Edit: Loving being wrong! Mets win in 18! Wow, the Mets left 25 on base. :o So, Bucs hold at 4.5 back. Still not looking forward to the Royals' series, though. :?

Jordy out 6 weeks. Knee sprain only, thankfully.

Wonder if they grab Barmes as a stopgap...

Revere and Lind would be good additions. I dont think we would have to give up too much either. I would deal Pedro for whatever.

I'd consider leaving him as the everyday third baseman, with Harrison returning to his super utility role., relieving Polonco and Walker, among others, as needed. Kang and Mercer can duke it out at SS. The next target should be a right handed hitting first baseman to platoon with Alvarez, though I know the pool is shallow.

As hard as they're pushing to dump the Bumbling Burrito, it wouldn't surprise me to see Ramirez at 1B when everyone is healthy. Either way, they need another bat or two. Id love to see Revere at the top of the order.
On a side note, if you haven't noticed, it's scary how close Marte and Cutch's stats are across the board. Nearly identical in all but 1 or 2 categories.

In addition to that I'd like to see a RF who can leadoff added. I dont think Harrison is right for that role.
