So frustrating! Pitching has done its job holding a good team like the Tigers to 1 or 2 runs.

I forget the last inning we had a base runner, but I'm pretty sure whenever it was, Marte grounded out to end that inning.

Certainly some tough losses. But as you said, they hung tough against the Tigers. Tis reason for optimism.

• The Penguins weren’t the only Pittsburgh team on some people’s minds.

J.T. Miller, the Rangers’ winger raised in Corapolis, referred unsolicited to the Pirates getting blanked back-to-back by the Tigers back home and asked, “Where’s the offense?”

Mike Emrick, Hall of Fame broadcaster for tonight’s game and obsessed Pirates fan, was equally anguished: “Put me out there! I’ll at least stand in front of a pitch and get hit!”

Bottom of the first was good. Could have been better but I'll take it.

Does anyone know what section or what the seats are called that are IN the right field scoreboard? It's only one row of seats there I think. I can't find them on seating charts.

I believe they're wheelchair accessible seats.

Tonight, Melancon blows the save sky high, giving up 3 in the top of the 9th.

Bucs get great hitting, score 8 runs, and still lose. Two Bucco errors earlier didn't help. Nice to see Kang hit a bases clearing double.

Castro and Rizzo with good nights, as usual.

Come on, Bucs! Can't get swept tomorrow!

Don't know if we'll ever get Bryant out, either.

and not being correct-y, but it's a 4-gamer; so let's get the split!

You're not being "correct-y" at all--you're being "remind-y." I completely forgot it was a 4-gamer. :D

Yes, RJW, let's get that split!

It's 100% baseball season now.

Buccos win 4-1. RTJR. I'll smile about it tomorrow.

It'd be nice if the top half of the lineup would realize the season has started.

I think we'd all sign up for 11-8 after that opening series mess. But it isn't surprising to see cincy fall flat on their faces after raising the "Mission Accomplished" banner on April 9th. They will probably remain a pain in the ass for the Pirates, but be pretty awful this year, They're under 500 with Votto putting up MVP numbers, can't wait to see where they are when he's out of the lineup with injury.

I assume that only significant rest will get McCutchen right and there's no risk of aggravating whatever issue he's dealing with. Baseball is the most precise game, I'm sure whatever he's dealing with is causing his slow start, I think when the weather warms up and he learns how to cope with the issue, he'll be back to being a productive player.

I like what the rotation is doing and the Stewart/Cervelli combo at catcher is holding up really well. I don't think it's a negative for Stewart to be getting more playing time. The bullpen will work itself out, It sucks that Melancon and Hurdle cost them that game against the Cubs, but it was one game, people shouldn't lose their **** over that.

Alvarez is back to 2013 form, so that's good. Harrison isn't falling completely flat on his face, but the regression is real. But that productivity drop from the leadoff spot is being compensated by what Polanco is doing in the #2 spot, he's awesome. Marte is another guy that will benefit from the warmer weather I think, but probably needs to be less pull/home run happy at the plate.
