Atkinson $3.5 for 3 years. Seems like a deal based upon potential more than actual production.

Sven Baertschi to the 'Nucks. (I'm avoiding PR now.) It's for a 2nd...
A 13th overall pick for a 2nd rounder. That's poor management (joking, btw).

The great Wiz has been traded!
#CBJ have traded D James Wisniewski to Anaheim.
Details: #CBJ have acquired Rene Bourque, William Karlsson and a 2nd round pick in 2015 from ANA in exchange for James Wisniweski.

Anaheim also picked up Holzer from Toronto.
Edit: "Brewer and a fifth from Anaheim completes the Toronto deal for Holzer." (LeBrun)

I'm not going to speak my opinion on that trade... because I'm sure I'd get pitch-forked by this board. It's in full mob mentality atm.
That's a really interesting trade for both teams, though.
The Ducks defense is a HUGE mishmash of random players now. We'll see if it works.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
You know that it was a BAD deadline day when:
The one guy on the NHL Network said that the NYI were the top winners yesterday.
In: G Neuvirth, F Kennedy, F Jeffrey, F Louis
Out: G Johnson, G Leggio, F Conacher, #3, #7
I do not even care what they gave away, but hey got a backup goalie with a career record of 65-60-23, Kennedy who could not crack the Shark's lineup, Jeffrey who spent the last two years in the AHL and Louis a career AHLer.
... but they won the day?
Worst deadline day in quite some time...

It's also a product of NHL Network having absolute clown jockeys talking about hockey...the only regular on that channel that I would consider having a serious conversation with is Craig Button...

Their coverage was unbearable. Every single one of them seemed like a moron.mikey287 wrote:It's also a product of NHL Network having absolute clown jockeys talking about hockey...the only regular on that channel that I would consider having a serious conversation with is Craig Button...

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Many of failed game show hosts that kind of pilot the show (i.e. not the color guys like Weekes, or Dave Reid, or Noodles or whoever) don't pronounce names correctly or have any idea about hockey at even an intermediate level...the other sports channels improved significantly over time, and while the NHL Network has come a pretty long way, they've plateaued in recent years...
I'm hoping that getting Andi Petrillo from CBC is a step in the right direction overall...

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
NHL's production is equal to that of Root Sports (or, more specifically, FSN Pittsburgh... maybe Root has better at times). The only show I enjoy watching is NHL Live... because of Steve Mears & his connection to the Pens.
The other sports have some great players providing commentary (whatever you think of Bradshaw, Marino, etc... they were great players). Swedish TV has Lidstrom. The NHL Network hires Jamal Mayers.
It's frustrating.

I'd watch NHL Live more if EJ Hradek's bumbling jackassery was not a part of it...

Id rather they have a guy who can coherently construct a sentence than a great player...
NBCSN doesn't have either

Bruins need to wait another 6 weeks to see Connolly play. Broke his finger in practice.
David Clarkson out 4-6 weeks as well.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Yeah, they went out to get some top-six caliber, entry-level help. They got a nice haul. Duclair is in the NHL next year with young Max Domi. One of those heavier wingers probably has a shot like Samuelsson...plus Reider is already there...they did a nice job for a rebuild...they have the longer shot in Letunov, still a project, but that's a good add...
