Kyle Clifford apparently signed a five-year extension.

Nolan previously signed a 3-year one, I think, for a little less than $1 million per.

The Hurricanes have acquired a third-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft and either a fifth- or sixth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for forward Jiri Tlusty. The conditional 2015 draft pick will be in the fifth round if Winnipeg qualifies for the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs or the sixth round if they do not.
That's... a very low return for Tlusty.

The prospect is the very highly thought of Roland McKeown...2nd rounder, if memory serves, last draft...top-5 prospect or so in the Kings organization...

Wow, that seems like a very steep price for Sekera. Am I missing something?

Nope. It's a high price. But that's about the best rental d-man on the market and the Kings went out in front of the rush to get it. So pay to play...

I definitely laughed at the idea of Martin having a limited trade value; others laughed at the idea of trading him, so I guess everyone got what they wanted out of those exchanges. :P

Man a 1st AND McKeown... I can't believe that was the price for Sekera. What a great move by Ronnie Francis.

If a 1st and McKeown gets you Sekera, pens fans were actually way undervaluing Martin in a trade.

McKeown is going to play a lot of NHL games. Swiss Army knife of a defenseman.

I had a tough time getting a read on him in his draft year...I recall being pretty unsure of him...interesting upside, but something about him seemed off to me...we'll see how it goes...he's a few years out...

Eh... Tlusty is supposed to be a scorer... yet Winnik is out scoring him 28 vs 23. Spaling is only 1 point behind him...

I can see that. He does everything well, but doesn't blow you away with any one thing. The only potential problem is his size. I haven't seen a recent weight number, but the last one I saw was in the 180's.

Tlusty runs very hot/cold and I have never bought into the talk that he's solid as a two-way player either. Carolina got about the best you could get for him since he's also pending UFA and the Canes are trying to re-build. What they got Sekera(huge overpayment) also will help.

Cracknell is a good fourth liner. I think they had him last playoffs as well. Comfortable with the system.

Jagr wants to go to a contender... so he goes to Florida.

*Shrug* He'll be great for folks like Barkov, Hayes, etc. Just weird.

I like the trade because Florida is exciting to watch. Jagr makes them that much more watchable.

he went to new jersey. before that it was dallas. playing for a contender isn't a priority.

relatively speaking, they don't get paid much money per game in the playoffs. so i don't think jagr cares about making a deep run.

Jagr will play for all 30 teams before he's retired
