Yeah, the corssfit/obstacle race posts can be tedious but "not skilled enough to play a sport"? I'm sorry. I had no idea rugby required as much skill as orthopedic surgery. I don't care how in shape you are or how good at a sport you are. Finish a Spartan Ultra Beast race and then check back in here.

When did I say it requires the skill of a surgeon...?

Shooting a hockey puck, a basketball, hitting a baseball etc are skills. Running long distances in mud is not

YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!

His pet peeve was rational to me (maybe irrational to some). His smugby attitude is what pissed me off :D :thumb:

You run around in mud and throw and kick a ball. That's about as much skill as doing the obstacles. The only exception is the distinct training involved. You would crap out in a 26 mile obstacle course. The same would be said for a racer competing in a rugby match with no specialized training. It has nothing to do with skill, only the training.

Those Spartan things are waaaaaaaay overrated in terms of difficulty. Its no harder than running a 5K at a mediocre pace.

Right, the 5k ones are a piece of cake. I've finished several so yeah, they are no big deal. There are much longer races. 10, 15, 20, 25+ miles. Some of them are not gauged by distance but by how many circuits you can complete in 5, 10, 24 hours.

Bro,

I ran across country and back again while at the same time creating the original yellow smiley face logo.

All while listening to Jackson Browne's Running on Empty.

My hair and beard got really long.

But it was easy.

That's all I heard. Cannot fcking abide Crossfit, mostly because the 'athletes' are generally turd monsters who think there's some perverse honor or achievement in physically breaking themselves.

That said, I have taken some elements of Crossfit into my own regimen. I wear zero-drop trail running shoes and MMA-style shorts (range of motion is so much better). But the main thing I've adopted from Crossfit is bacon.

Perusing Facebook threads, article comments, etc, there are plenty (and I mean plenty) of grammatical errors made by the yokels of Pennsyltucky and Yinzburgh. But it seems this one is the most ubiquitous

"I SEEN THAT ACCIDENT DOWN ON SIXBURGH ROAD THIS MORNING"

I mean, does that even sound right when you say it?

I grew up with that one, so it's not all that shocking to me. Everyone would say it that way.
