Well that result won't help the Penguins in the inevitable chase for the wild card

Edmonton up 3-1 over the Bruins. The battle for 8th place in the east surely is a battle of mediocrity at the moment.

Given the number of teams, isnt that always the case?Avyran wrote:Edmonton up 3-1 over the Bruins. The battle for 8th place in the east surely is a battle of mediocrity at the moment.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
I'm just doing some comparisons, that's all. The difference between 1st & 7th in the east is 6 points. Then, 8th place is a 7 point dropoff. Versus in the west, where the difference between 1st & 5th is 14 points. However, 5th & 11th is just 8 points (& COL is 3 points behind that).Idoit40fans wrote:Given the number of teams, isnt that always the case?Avyran wrote:Edmonton up 3-1 over the Bruins. I think Boston's a better team than they're showing; they're just playing pretty mediocre, and should be kinda embarrassed to get beat out of the playoffs by a Philly or a Florida.

Well, Flyers only get a point tonight. BUF wins the shootout.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
If it's hockey weekend... why are there no games on today, even on the NHL Network? Some really quality games too: Boston vs. St. Louis, Anaheim vs. Calgary, even Colorado vs. Chicago (all important in the playoff hunt).

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
I don't think they're able to show NHL games on Friday nights...
Anyhow, I think they normally pick up Friday Night Hockey from Sportsnet and put up an OHL or WHL contest, which is better for me, personally...though, might not be as palatable to others...
NBCSN does college games on Friday night...
Either way, it's a very unpopular night on the NHL schedule and the perfect day to show some non-NHL action...

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Honest question: Why wouldn't they be able to show games today (on fridays)?

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Probably just the protocol of their agreement with all parties. I don't know if "can't" is the best word, but there are certain contractual obligations that are likely at play with anything involving TV...
RSNs probably don't want every big game being scooped up nationally and potentially hurting their ratings depending on local blackouts...
Plus, they seem to have an agreement for non-NHL contests on Fridays...which some fans have come to expect...not everyone follows the NHL after all, of course...

Looks like Malcolm Subban will get his first taste of the NHL tonight against the Blues.

Okay, well, there's one then.
And there's two. And Subban's gone. That sucks.

Wow, just turned Boston game on and saw Oshie blast one by Subban. And saw Malcolm get the hook already.....

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
I'm hoping for a relatively easy Blues win, just so the Blues don't have a fire up their butt to play better against their next opponent (the Pens).
However, sucks seeing a rookie pulled on his first ever start.

Not sure what the thinking was by Julien.....play him in Edmonton, a bottom dwelling team, or STL, a Western Conference powerhouse.Avyran wrote:I'm hoping for a relatively easy Blues win, just so the Blues don't have a fire up their butt to play better against their next opponent (the Pens).
