Best boss I ever worked for. She just recruited me into this company in September, too, from previous experience working together.
do expand - what was she doing properly that got her axed? I hate hearing those kind of stories.
CEO of the company is a misogynistic twerp who can't deal with being told what he can or cannot do by a woman. He was under an HR investigation brought about by my boss's complaints. (She did not actually file an official complaint, but she would complain to the HR manager about his behavior and finally the HR person was like enough is enough.) That investigation wrapped up in September a week before I was hired. (I knew all about this going in, btw) And in the meeting where he let my boss go, he flat out stated that he wanted to fire her when the investigation ended. So not only is he a misogynistic a-hole, he's stupid. I'm about 95% sure my (ex)boss has already announced her intention to file a wrongful termination suit.
Seriously, I've never been a part of an organization where I went from gung-ho to get-me-the-eff-outta-here so fast. When a new attorney is hired, I put my odds at being retained at no better than 50-50, and realistically that's probably optimistic.
It's illegal to discriminate in the workplace. If he's not listening to people and has said it's because they're women (or acted in a way that that is heavily implied), that's a big no no.
Oddly enough, my (ex-)boss never filed a formal complaint; the investigation was initiated by HR. But he still openly admitted to wanting to fire her (before I was even hired) at the conclusion of the investigation. I do not know if he was sanctioned in any way, or what the results and proceeds of the investigation were.
He apparently refers to the woman that runs our HK office as "His China doll". Like, to her face.

So he's one of those macho ****** who thinks women should cater to him then.

How Wegman's doesn't have their coupons at the customer service desk anymore. At first they gave them to whomever asked. Then they started asking if we got them in the mail. If you said no then they gave them to you. If you said yes they wouldn't give them to you. Now, they don't give them to anyone. They have to be mailed. If I forget to bring them I have to bring the coupons and receipt back to get my discount.

- People who do not know how the fcking turn lane works, taking 50 feet to change lanes slowing all the while and never really getting the whole way into the lane. I know I've mentioned that before, but it seemed appropriate.
- Got up extra early today to participate in a GoToMeeting web conference with a guy in Germany. Start the meeting, dig out my USB headset..... to find that apparently some sort of creature (beagleopteryx?) chewed the thing up. It's dead. And I'm not using my personal cell phone to make a call to Europe. So here I sit, dogs and cat sleeping behind me, watching a web conference. Shame on me for two things: 1) Not checking my stuff until I actually needed it, and 2) not simply bringing a headset home from work (USB gaming headsets are one of our biggest selling products).
