Picked up several aged Belgians on sale for $4 each at Hal's today. First time in there. Pretty good selection, though nothing out of the ordinary that I generally can't get at Jiggle.

Is Saporro any good? What is it comparable to? I've never tried it.

Had Southern Tier's Choklat tonight. Split a bomber with my wife. It was pretty good. Gotta let it warm up though. Gets much better when warm.

Others probably would have better descriptions, but I consider it a better version of Bud/Miller/Coors. It's rice-based, so it's not as bitter as your typical lager. Best served very cold.

Agreed. My second time I poured and waited 10 minutes. Made a world of difference.

Trying 2X milk stout right now. Very malty. Bit sweet. Would recommend to southern tier fans.

St. Augustijn was ok. Needed more thickness.

Carolus Noel was also ok. Licorice was a bit strong in places, but fruit tone mellowed it.

I think one serving of it makes an excellent dessert beer. More of it is too much.

Perhaps it was due to the larger bottle size MWB. At first I was thrown back by all the sweet notes, but after a few sips I was OK with it. After half the bottle I might as well have put a nipple on it and called it mamma.

Agreed on the Creme Brulee. I think it'd still be a good beer if they cut the sweetness back a bit. I figure it's one of those things that you know what's coming when you get it, it's going to taste like creme brulee in your mouth (which is typically sweet).

I've only had the large bottle. Can definitely see where people think it is too sweet, especially if you go into without expecting that much.

I still have yet to try Dragon's Milk. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for it.

I think they're trying too hard to remind everyone they're a craft brewery. Stick to your winners.... Boston Lager, Oktoberfest, Noble Pils, those are decent brews for a giant brewery.

Yeah, if I recall, Koch hates IPAs and was very reluctant to make one. Should have just stuck to his guns, as you said. But I'm genuinely not just Sam Adams bashing. I did drink it out of a plastic cup, but it was really awful.

No, I agree with you. I've had it before, and even was dumb enough to give it a second chance. It's not a good beer at all.

Going to a German beer tasting at Teutonia Männerchor this evening. Should be a good time. Looking most forward to trying Andechser Doppelbock and Dunkleweizen.
