Thanks, sarcastic! My specialty is portraiture but I'm trying to get into more leagues as the portrait market is shrinking. It's so different though. Seems like quality doesn't matter to the leagues, it's all about who you know/whose palm you grease. It's a good learning experience though. Next time I'll be more prepared.Sarcastic wrote:I would hire you, your photos rock.Hockeynut! wrote:I lost the bid on photographing a big sports league because another photographer decided to give a hefty kickback. Annoying because his work is really, really mediocre but money talks. Sucky day.

Sounds like a plan. I would take such a job at a lower rate just to make a name for myself.Hockeynut! wrote:Thanks, sarcastic! That's a poor manager, when I worked there it was required that they be full. In fact there are timers that say when to make new.FreeCandy44 wrote:When the coffee pots at Sheetz arent full.

do expand - what was she doing properly that got her axed? I hate hearing those kind of stories.tifosi77 wrote:You know what I hate? When your boss gets fired for doing her job properly. That really sucks.
Best boss I ever worked for. She just recruited me into this company in September, too, from previous experience working together.

Ever since I heard about the use of butyric acid in Hershey's chocolate I can't eat the stuff. It just grosses me out now.

Except in this case, it's made in a lab. If it was just contained in milk, the ingredient would be, "milk"

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
CEO of the company is a misogynistic twerp who can't deal with being told what he can or cannot do by a woman. He was under an HR investigation brought about by my boss's complaints. (She did not actually file an official complaint, but she would complain to the HR manager about his behavior and finally the HR person was like enough is enough.) That investigation wrapped up in September a week before I was hired. (I knew all about this going in, btw) And in the meeting where he let my boss go, he flat out stated that he wanted to fire her when the investigation ended. So not only is he a misogynistic a-hole, he's stupid. I'm about 95% sure my (ex)boss has already announced her intention to file a wrongful termination suit.DropEmJayBird wrote:do expand - what was she doing properly that got her axed? Seriously, I've never been a part of an organization where I went from gung-ho to get-me-the-eff-outta-here so fast. When a new attorney is hired, I put my odds at being retained at no better than 50-50, and realistically that's probably optimistic.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
After it happened, the CEO asked if I had a draft letter she was working on. I didn't, so I asked IT if I could have access to her laptop for a few minutes before they wiped it. The guy said, "Oh, this one isn't being wiped. It's under lock and key in the server room." Which means it's being maintained as evidence.
Also puts me in something of an ethical pickle. CA law says a paralegal can't work as a paralegal absent the supervision of an attorney. But I'm not really super eager to go to management and say "change my title to 'contract administrator' until you hire new counsel."

Totally rational, but, when someone in adult league stands on the bench so no one can see what's happening down the ice.

Oh, so yeah, that leads to this one, 10:30 games where no one shows up because they have to work in the morning.
I love the extra ice time, but I'd also like at least two full lines of O and D each.

Multiple sequential questions marks in business e-mails. Come on, now. We aren't aggressive message board posters. We are businessmen.

another IPP are people that use multiple question marks period. Unless they're separated with exclamation points.
