Huge deal. Hearing Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian as principles of deal getting close btwn Buf + Wpg.
Holy ****.

Why is Buffalo throwing in a 1st? I feel like that deal as a whole's overpayment on their part.

Won't be there 1st...which will probably be McDavid.Avyran wrote:Why is Buffalo throwing in a 1st? I feel like that deal as a whole's overpayment on their part.

Again principles of Jets-Sabres deal: Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian. Could be other elements.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Ah, forgot that Buffalo had both St. Louis's & NYI's 1st-rounders. Just assumed it was a future one. Good catch, Kovy (& MR25). Even still, still think it's overpayment.

Cheveldayoff has waited his entire career for this moment.

1st round pick Jets acquire will be lowest of 3 of the Sabres picks. Very complicated trade. Sounds like an unsigned player from Peg as well

I feel like this went down like a Monopoly trade.

To confirm what mikey said...
Bad deal for Buffalo, ESPECIALLY if they somehow don't get McDavid or Eichel.Darren Dreger wrote:Unsigned goalie, Jason Kasdorf also goes to Sabres in trade. Done deal.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
So right now I have...
WPG acquires: Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux and a conditional 1st (the condition being the latest 1st round pick of BUF, NYI, STL)
BUF acquires: Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and the rights to Jason Kasdorf

Yeah, that sounds right Mikey.
Buf - get Kane, Bogo and Jason Kasdorf. Jets get: a first, Armia, Lemieux, Stafford and Myers - all from the intrepid @DarrenDreger

They should have tried for Burmistrov.mikey287 wrote:Jason Kasdorf, not Burmistrov is the last piece...

I imagine they did. Kasdorf is solid, but not NHL material.Kovy27 wrote:They should have tried for Burmistrov.mikey287 wrote:Jason Kasdorf, not Burmistrov is the last piece...

Interesting deal...Kevin Cheveldayoff's second player for player trade in his tenure (the first included two players that were previously waived in Peter Budaj and Eric Tangradi)...

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
I don't have any good sense of how these players are performing this season, but it strikes me as Brendan Lemieux being the part that is overpayment. The rest seems about right. I figure pretty lateral on Myers/Bogo. I think Stafford kind of sucks. I've lowered my ceiling on Kane at this point, but I don't really fault Buffalo for taking the chance on him.

I felt like Myers needed a change of scenery. I personally like Bogo better than Myers, but Bogo has a tendency to get hurt.Kraftster wrote:I don't have any good sense of how these players are performing this season, but it strikes me as Brendan Lemieux being the part that is overpayment. I think Kane could be a huge catch, if he gets healthy and they get McDavid.
Sort of shocked Lemieux and a 1st was involved.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
This is a great trade for Winnipeg this year. Kane is out so they get Stafford. Swap of Bogosian for Myers, somewhat even, but Myers has much more offensive upside. WPG also gets two decent prospects and a 1st.
Buffalo picks up Kane, who, if he gets back to playing as he can and stops being a distraction, is a great offensive pickup for Buffalo. Myers and Bogosian are both signed long term, so not sure why Buffalo felt a major need to move Myers.
If Armia and Lemieux bomb, this trade isn't horrible. But if they can eventually contribute at an NHL level, Winnipeg easily wins this trade.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
When at 100% currently I think Bogo is the better player, but Myers is still developing. At the same age of Myers is now, Chara was still with the Senators. There's plenty of room for growth. Definitely not saying Myers will be Chara, just that he has developing left to do.Kovy27 wrote:I felt like Myers needed a change of scenery. I also like that Winnipeg get Brendan Lemieux, I think he'll be a great piece for them and the piece that actually wins them this trade.

I'm getting my popcorn ready for the heartbreak when they don't get the #1 overall pick in Buffalo.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Myers projects to be much better than Bogosian. The possibility he turns into Chara is something to consider.
The Jets were already stacked with prospects. Good trade by GMKC to liquidate Kane. I wonder if there are more trades to come for Winnipeg...
I'm not sure Buffalo is the place for Kane to excel. I think he needs to be surrounded by older stars, not be the vet himself. I guess Buffalo is thinking that he'll be playing with a young elite center next year... so I can understand the thinking of adding an elite wing. But definitely agree that Buffalo overpaid. I like Armia a lot.
