A -47 Corsi for the Sabres tonight. Out-attempted 86-37 by the Stars. Yowza.

I understand this point, and consider it to be correct in the NHL.

I also despise this justification of calling / not calling a penalty.

All they did today was help us in the division by keeping the Caps at bay. It was a good win by them, but the Caps had a ton of chances, including a 5-on-3, to take control of this game and they didn't connect.

If Mason's out again for any length of time, then it's going to be really rough for them. It doesn't look good; Mason had to be helped down the tunnel because he couldn't put any weight on his leg. Zepp is hurt, too, although no idea how serious, but that throws their backup situation into some question.

We'll see if they manage to beat the Habs on Tuesday.

I didn't even know who Zepp was. I thought it was a nickname for someone.

Pretty exciting ending to the Arizona/Chicago overtime; check it out on the highlights if you have a chance.

Counted at least 3 or 4 penalties:

1. Cross-check on Bogosian to start
2. Elbowing/roughing on Montoya
3. Tripping on Bogosian
4. Interference/roughing on whoever stuck around in the zone to hit Gallagher at the end.

Gallagher goes to the net hard and makes a nuisance of himself there...that's how a lot of Montreal games look with him...you're generally allowed to defend your own net...

The only thing I would have called there is Al Montoya for a roughing minor perhaps...I think that would have been proper...and am kind of surprised that he got two high shots in on a player and did not get a penalty...but everything else I would not have called...

I think Gallagher trying to go behind Montoya let the beating continue. If he goes behind the net or around Bogo, he might get a call. Trying to slip between the goalie and the net usually ends badly for players.

I love that the rules are different in the NHL depending on the year. And that the roughing towards Gallagher is called "Defending the net," making the rules different toward him.

Don't worry, mikey. I fully understand it. I just personally think it's stupid (and I know others feel differently).

I was just being facetious with the "last year" thing because shad posted about it being "today's NHL" nothing serious about that...

You're in a different area of the playing surface...I'm sure the things that happen along the line of scrimmage in football are a little different than the things that happen 20 yards down the field...that said, like I had previously mentioned, I probably ring up Montoya there for a deuce...

Why do you think a lot of teams saw that getting bigger was the way the league was moving, except for our team? They seem to have seen the league turning back into the clutch and interfere ways of the past. Just a random thought I was having.

Not my research...but from a person I trust...

These are the last several first rounds...

Not that size wasn't always coveted regardless of era, but I don't see teams going for size any more than ever before...in fact, there seems to be a little less interest overall according to the amateur scouts at least...
