Yeah, I don't buy that Hanzal is acquirable for a d-man the Yotes already have and a mid-round pick...I'll believe that when I see it...

Vasilevsky is at least at the Bernier level but Bishop is not at the Quick level.Kraftster wrote:Does he really stand a chance of supplanting Bishop? Seems like a Quick/Bernier situation in the making to me.

I meant more from the overall highly touted prospect playing behind less heralded older guy, not necessarily in terms of talent.

Pretty much, Kraftster. He probably doesn't have a chance this or even next year, but he certainly does in the upcoming years. I've seen him rated as the #1 goaltender prospect.
That team just has a wealth of riches. If only they had a defense of any kind.

Well right now its probably right for that first year they were both there, but Quick rapidly became the best in the league, if Bishop does that, i'll go get a hat and then eat it. Their defense isn't good enough to keep him propped up.Kraftster wrote:I meant more from the overall highly touted prospect playing behind less heralded older guy, not necessarily in terms of talent.

I don't know, I don't watch many games these days, it has seemed like Bishop hasn't been that sharp this year, but I've always liked Bishop's game. Do you think last years third place Vezina finish was him being propped up? I've not really thought of Tampa as a team built to do that for a goalie.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
No I think he's really good...but Tampa's team d is never going to isolate him like LA does for Quick. Saying propped up did not convey what I meant.

Bishop also seems to be fragile in terms of getting hurt (or maybe that's just because in 2 of the 3 games against the Pens he's pulled himself off the ice with an injury).

Vasilevsky has a higher pedigree, higher upside, higher potential, higher mojo compared to Bishop. Nabokov was just a place holder until Yzerman felt Vasilevsky was cooked enough to be an every day player in the NHL.

Okposo has been out with an "upper-body" injury.
Announced today that it's a detached retina. *shudder*

I read it was a torn retina, which I found out is not the same thing.MRandall25 wrote:Okposo has been out with an "upper-body" injury.

A tear would actually be better.

Is he the best goalie on that team now?

Yeah, one of the last of the hybrid style goaltenders that the legendary Warren Strelow tutored...

Bob says that a lot is cooking right now between Winnipeg and Buffalo re: Evander Kane...
Grigorenko or Armia and one of the 1st round picks that they have (not their own, of course)...?

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
I don't care much for Grigorenko actually...I liked Armia in his draft year, but I feel like he hasn't progressed as much as I thought he would...all that said, I don't care much for Evander Kane either...so I guess it makes sense that he brings back a high-end, but somewhat-sputtering prospect and a mid/late 1st...maybe...
I can't imagine a Myers/Kane swap makes a lot of sense for either team at this point really...maybe the Sabres unload Stewart in this somehow...and get the rights to Burmistrov or something?

The rights to Burmistrov? That's an interesting add. If Tim Murray can slip Stewart in there somehow, that would be a miracle.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Myers doesn't make sense unless you get a d-man back...like Zach Bogosian I guess...it's a downgrade for Buffalo though, in my opinion...Bogo hasn't really lived up to his draft billing...
Stafford involved over Stewart...
