Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
If I'm understanding this correctly, his cap hit on his new team would only be 2.875m, split between his new team and the Kings.

I'm fairly certain the claiming team assumes the full price of his contract and the Kings are completely off the hook.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
No, reentry waivers are no longer a thing. His cap hit would be in full effect.
I wonder if part of the reason the Kings were unable to trade him was due to his partial NTC? I've gotta think Edmonton would be all over some Mike Richards. He's exactly 1 (of many) pieces they need to create some structure for their rebuild...

One tactic might be to try and give him away on waivers. If not, work out a deal and retain x% of the cap hit.

McKenzie was reporting cap recapture penalties for the Kings if Richards retires before the contract is over. I'm not sure why, but it may have something to do with being waived?meow wrote:I'm fairly certain the claiming team assumes the full price of his contract and the Kings are completely off the hook.

Oh yeah. This is definitely step 1 of a process that ends with him playing for a different team.columbia wrote:One tactic might be to try and give him away on waivers. If not, work out a deal and retain x% of the cap hit.

With Martinez & Muzzin getting pretty big raises next year, and Clifford, Toffoli, & Pearson all being RFAs at year's end, LA needs the space. Stoll, Williams, & Regehr are all UFAs, though (with about 3 mil each).

I think that happens when a player's salary exceeds his cap hit. The difference is then penalized to the team if he retires prior to the conclusion of the contract.MRandall25 wrote:McKenzie was reporting cap recapture penalties for the Kings if Richards retires before the contract is over. They also need a defenseman this year to replace Voynov before they drop out of the playoff picture. Things are getting tricky for them.Avyran wrote:With Martinez & Muzzin getting pretty big raises next year, and Clifford, Toffoli, & Pearson all being RFAs at year's end, LA needs the space. Personally, I think they come after Martin and try to get him.pcm wrote:They also need a defenseman this year to replace Voynov before they drop out of the playoff picture. Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
If only Maatta didn't get injured... I mean, LA would have to blow us out of the water with an offer for us to move Martin. And then'd we'd likely have to go out and acquire a Methot or Michalek or some such. Just doubtful. Even moving Scuderi at this point seems unlikely, given the way his play has picked up. Though I'd be fine with Harrington(or other kid D)-Bortuzzo as our bottom pairing...Kovy27 wrote:Personally, I think they come after Martin and try to get him.pcm wrote:They also need a defenseman this year to replace Voynov before they drop out of the playoff picture. Moving a Martin / Scuderi would put a damper on our chances this year, but ultimately would set us up much better next year, potentially giving our defense experience and our org assets to afford to acquire a guy like Hall. But I kinda think that ship sailed.

Is the pens's response laughter or do they keep a straight face?Kovy27 wrote:Personally, I think they come after Martin and try to get him.pcm wrote:They also need a defenseman this year to replace Voynov before they drop out of the playoff picture. I wouldn't even want to think about how much they want...I'd say a forward, prospect D, and 2 1st rounders.Idoit40fans wrote:I would love to know what the price is for OEL

Tampa Bay put Evgeni Nabokov on waivers. I guess the Andrey Vasilevskiy era in Tampa is slowly approaching.

Does he really stand a chance of supplanting Bishop? Seems like a Quick/Bernier situation in the making to me.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Steve Zipay believes John Moore and a mid-round pick would net the Rags Martin Hanzal but Vermette would require at least a 2015 first?? That seems insane. What an add Hanzal would be at that price.

That's surprising RE:Hanzal if true. I don't really have that high an opinion on John Moore though.

Yeah, it makes no sense as a fit for Arizona. They have tons of dmen unless I missed them trading a few.
