Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
I recorded the game just to watch Fleury, so I FFWD to the 2nd period. Once he went FirstShotFleury I shut it off and went back to the R24 I had recorded.

The real reason Ovechkin wanted a car so badly: He'd donate it to the NoVa Cool Cats, the local hockey club for kids with special needs.

I didn't watch it, but it can't have possibly been worse than the Pro Bowl.

The optimist would say, "See, after 10 NHL seasons, the self-centered egomaniac now really cares about the special needs kids and wants to make their lives better." The pessimist would say, "See, Ovechkin finally decided to pay for a decent publicist." The truth probably lies somewhere in between, but could actually lie at either extreme.Avyran wrote:The real reason Ovechkin wanted a car so badly: He'd donate it to the NoVa Cool Cats, the local hockey club for kids with special needs.

I love Ovechkin. Sad that we couldn't see him on a line with Geno or Sid.

I have the Pro Bowl on in the background as I am working from home today, and the Pro Bowl was actually more competitive, but not by much.columbia wrote:I didn't watch it, but it can't have possibly been worse than the Pro Bowl.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Watching the Rangers/Habs game... Kreider cross-checked Subban & Subban went down easily. 2 minutes to each. I get that.
After the time's over, Kreider immediately drops his gloves and holds onto Subban, egging him into a fight. Subban ignores it and tries to skate to the play.
Both players get 2 more minutes, unsportsmanlike conduct. Why? How does that make any sense? How do you explain that by the rulebook? I don't get penalties in the NHL.
And now we're having Prust & Glass fight, while Kreider & Subban say they'll fight next time out (according to McGuire). Bleh.
(Edit: Milbury's agreeing with me.
Edit #2: Apparently I missed Subban faking dropping gloves to get Kreider to drop his. I'll accept that.)

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Also, they just got a goal review way off in the game. The reason they called it inconclusive is because the camera didn't have a high enough FPS to show the puck completely over the goal line, even though one could see it go across the line, hit Price's pad & immediately jump back over the line (the two frames they showed were it crossing the line & then going back out).
In other words, they called it a no goal because their cameras suck. Quality league at times.![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Reminded me of Talbot's goal vs. Niittymaki in 2005 (<-- that wasn't a shorty, though, but it was weird in that it was from a face-off)Idoit40fans wrote:Lol just saw OEL shg

In the Blues game last night vs the Preds, the line of Goc, Ott and Reaves tallied 2 goals.
Post-game Ott says they know Marcel is positionally sound therefore, he and Reaves can play a bit more loose.

Ott and Reaves playing more loose than they all ready do should be entertaining.

Plekanec gives a bit of frontier justice to Tom Wilson. Wilson hits him really late and on the delayed call Plekanec picks his spot and lowbridges Wilson.

Yeah, that was so great. And like Jason York said, that's not a very common can for Turtleneck Plek to open...pretty cool stuff...all on the up and up too...

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Will be interesting to see how Washington fares against St. Louis today. See if WSH's defensive hot streak continues against a much more physical team. Ovechkin already started with a big hit on Pietrangelo (though I thought it was a charge / leap-hit, but whatever).

Have to give OV credit. He does not miss from the left hand circle.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Just watched the epic 13-round shootout fail that was Oilers-Sharks. The only goals were scored by Burns, Nugent-Hopkins, and the gamewinner by our boy Klinkhammer. Niemi and Fasth really didn't have to try too hard on many of the saves. I think this 'skills competition' to earn and extra point needs to be abolished. Let's try something else in the OT or just call it a damn tie.

I think right off the bat they should let the same guy take every shot. Or allow repeats but not let the same person go twice in a row.

How did the caps all of a sudden get a real good goalie? They look like may be the class of the east. I guess Orpik and Nisky knew what they were doing

Crazy that Trotz comes in and suddenly the goalie's numbers improve. Who would have thought?

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
He also brought the league's best goalie coach, Mitch Korn, with him...the Caps are playing better hockey and Holtby is playing better goalie...that's been my game of the night tonight among the early games, and he's been stellar...
