Corey Crawford may be the worst starting goalie in NHL all star game history (and that's because I can't remember if Tim Thomas started one or not).

Not to open this up for the millionth time, but, "Wow i cant believe that "tim thomas is not awful" brainwashing got picked up by some people." seems like an equally appropriate response. :pop:

Yes you believe that. Good for you. The "he gets isolated and thats the only reason hes passable" theory was taken apart when he put up adequate numbers with the panthers and stars over a measurable sample size. Also no one even said he was good here so why did you bring it up?

Edited to reflect the technicality.
Spoiler:
Re: The numbers since you brought it up...which exactly confirm what I've always said...as if it wasn't pretty clear from watching the modern Cechmanek...
NHL career without Julien: 63-67-18, 2.96 GAA, .908 save pct., 4 SO
NHL career with Julien: 180-99-31, 2.24 GAA, .927 save pct., 33 SO

I guess it's possible he got really good just for Claude Julien and wasn't good for anyone else because he didn't feel like it, so he gave up 3 goals per game...meowshrug.txt

Can it be argued that Thomas bloomed late?

That's not really a thing...that's just something used to explain the "unexplainable" - sure you can say that for a power forward or something, coming along at 23 or 24 or whatever...or a 6'4" goalie that works on anticipation and plays a hybrid/standup game at maybe 25 or 26...fine...no one late blooms at 34...that just means that other factors were involved...34 is just way too late in the developmental arc for it to be the case...

It's one thing if you're a late bloomer and don't start shaving til 16 or whatever...if you don't start shaving until 28, you likely have some sort of malfunction, right?

Thomas carved out a NHL career at a very advanced age; props to him.

So your argument is that a defensive minded coach breeds a good situation for goalies? Groundbreaking.

It seems to be for some reason...I also think it's pretty obvious, but here we are...

Jaromir Jagr has broke the NHL record for hat trick by age....broke Gordie Howe's mark by one year and about a hundred days.

Plenty of good goalies could have been plopped into his spot in the scf with the result being vancouver skating around with the cup. He might have over achieved with Boston but he sure did achieve.

I would argue that Strombone crapping the bed on the road and then in game 7 was more to do with those finals then timmy t. Timmy didn't play bad, mind you, but Lu was either really good or really bad.

Boston is just kind of tired of this style it seems. They aren't playing well defensively, they aren't overly talented and I think maybe they're just getting sick of that style - a la the Pens with Michel Therrien. They're trying to be like LA and just coast through the regular season and then turn it up in the playoffs...but if Boston's not careful they might miss themselves...

Seriously. WTF is the malfunction with Montreal fans? A puck hit double post, replay clearly shows it didn't go in, and they're furiously booing the no goal call.
