Jolly Traveler is a weird beer. Orange, lemon, and pomegranate don't really mix well together.
Victory Storm King is excellent though. Reminds me.of Old Rasputin

Tonight I had To Ol's Snowball Saison. For those of you that don't like saisons due to the strong flavors, this might be a good one to try. It's a very mild flavor compared to a lot of other saisons that I've had (and usually enjoy).

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Oh man, that creme brulee is barely drinkable to me. It is soooooo sugary sweet. My wife got a glass at dinner one night and loved it. She liked it so much she wanted to get a bomber, which i tried to tell her would be a chore to drink. She made it halfway through the bottle and couldn't finish. I love sweet beers too, english barley wines are my favorite style and i can't drink that creme brulee. I have a bottle from 2010 or so i am going to crack in a few years to see if the sweetness fades. I've had it with a year on it and it was still overpowered with sweetness.shmenguin wrote:Their chokolat is great. You'd like the creme brûlée I think.
In other news... Just finished a BCBS. Good god. Got 2 cases. Should have bought more. Much more. At any price.
I have seen people get growlers of the stuff so i assume it is possible to drink quite a bit of it, lol.

Yeah, the creme brulee is took sweet for me unless it's cut with something else. The first time I tried it on draft, the bartender at Mad Mex could see me struggling and cut it with a guinness. That made it drinkable and was pretty good.

When Pumking and creme brulee are both on, I do about 80% Pumking and 20% creme brulee. Makes it taste like pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I think the only beer that is noteworthy from southern tier for me is backburner. Everything else, unless i am forgetting something, is so out of balance. Too sweet, too hoppy, too chocolatey, etc... I haven't had all of their beers but i have had a lot of them. If they just dialed back a bit i would probably love their stuff though.
Just looked it up and backburner is retired. Too bad, really liked that beer!

I used to have really good recall on beers, but I think my mind is finally getting too crowded with beer taste memories that I need to start taking notes. I'll probably just start using the notes feature on beer buddy.

This seems to be more of a problem for this gentleman with wine than beerKraftster wrote:I used to have really good recall on beers, but I think my mind is finally getting too crowded with beer taste memories that I need to start taking notes. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Last night tried the Weyerbacher Nineteen which was a Mango Witbier. It was actually pretty darn good. The mango flavor was present in a way that wasn't overpowering, but enough for you to know you were drinking a mango beer. Honestly, one of the better fruit wheat beers I've had.

I picked up some Storm King, which I believe is well regarded here.

Storm king was probably one of my first big stouts that got me into craft beer. I haven't had one in years, but I remember it being wonderful.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Finishing off a case of flying dog winter ale. I really wanted to like this beer but it's one of maybe two beers I've ever had that gives me a headache almost immediately after drinking it.
Maybe it's the higher alcohol content but I can drink 9-10% beers no problem. I give it the thumbs down but maybe others wouldn't experience the headache and rate it higher.

Wow. Apparently one of my friends in our beer exchange was offended by Sweet Baby Jesus because he is a "practicing Catholic" and feels it is "inappropriate to name a beer that way".

This is a strong beer. I had better only have one more this evening, if I wish to make it through both the Pens and Steelers games.columbia wrote:I picked up some Storm King, which I believe is well regarded here.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I can attest that Simon Despres likes Stella artois, as he came into the wexford whole foods pub early this afternoon and grabbed 2 sixers. I was enjoying a lost abbey deliverance, which was carbed in a rarity for LA high gravity brews.
They did have Anderson valley's blood orange gose on draft; if you like sours and/or gose it's definitely worth a trip.
