I had Nogne O's Special holiday ale tonight (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/7730/54355/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) I don't know what to really make of it, but I enjoyed it. Very nutty.

Southern Tier Chokolat Stout

Okay so this was only my second Southern Tier beer with the first being Pumking. My God these 2 beers are so sweet. The stout tastes like a 70% cocoa bar. Very delicious but, as with Pumking, it's a 1 bottle for the night and done kind of thing. At 10% it packs a punch and I had it in conjunction with a couple of 9% pumpkin ales that a coworker brewed. Felt pretty good after that. Mixed an ounce of each to see how it tasted and it was pretty good. I'm guessing a black and tan with Pumking and Chokolat would be pretty good if not too sweet.

Their chokolat is great. You'd like the creme brûlée I think.

In other news... Just finished a BCBS. Good god. Got 2 cases. Should have bought more. Much more. At any price.

Didn't have much to drink (it was Miller, and it wasn't a lot) at the NYE party, so I was finally able to get to my leftover Beer Advent beers after a week and a half or so of a sinus infection...

Harpoon Winter Warmer is pretty tasty.

I enjoyed it, but also had it after Moscow mules and a bottle of prosecco. I will need to try it on its own. It's up there with clown shoes Galactica, ST 2xone and GL Chillwave. I'm not sure about the $15 for a six pack, to me, there are better ipas for cheaper than that.

It's all subjective, but this was hands down one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. Absolutely vile drain pour. Glad you liked it though.

Harpoon stuff is not very good, in my opinion. I feel like it's about on par with Rivertowne stuff.

I largely concur. Went to the brewery earlier this year and sampled a few. Don't know if was the water, the brew process or what, but everything had an undesirable bite to it.

At the same time, the pub pretzels were great.

Yeah, I think Galactica is a good comp for it.

I didn't realize it was $14.99/6 pack. They had some in the mix-and-match the other day, so I guess you could have put one together for $12.99.

At one point, there were a few Harpoon beers that I enjoyed... Winter Warmer was not one of them. The more I drank their beers, however, the less I liked them. I'd agree with the Rivertowne comparison.

Went with a Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA. The hops go pretty well with the meal, I think.

Great Divide Oak Aged Imperial Stout. Too much like a Russian IS for me. A bit too strong. This would fit the description of too strong, but not too boozy, for me.
