Southern tier 2xmas is bad. Super spices but very thin. If you're going to have that much spice, you need to have a nice malty backbone to support it.

Got a growler of fatheads Christmas ale for tomorrow while my brother in law and I cook for the whole family. I hate cooking on a sober stomach.

Blargh...my Philly distributor has cases of barrel aged narwhal and raison d'extra lying around. And I'm leaving for 10 days. Odds of them being there when I get back...minimal.

The worst part about being sick/having a sinus infection is that I can't enjoy these beer calendar beers. Should've finished tonight, backlogged till almost New Years.

In my beer exchange, I got 3 different types of Leinenkugel's, 3 types of Sam Adams, and 2 types of Redd's. A Killian's was in there too. I may not participate next year.

Yep.

There was a Dirt Wolf in there, so it wasn't all for naught.

Drank a butt-tonne of St. Bernadus Abt 12, Pater 6, Prior 8 and a chin-tickle of Oban 14 for good measure.

Merry Christmas, muthaeffas!

The Belchin Beaver Horchata Stout is incredible. Smooth coffee and chocolate tones, and a hint of cinnamon. Yum. Thanks McK!

Do these people know what a beer exchange is? That's terrible.

Scary thing is that they probably thought they were buying that fancy beer 'n 'at.

I mean, leinenkugel makes some OK beers and Sam Adams is my househd staple, but this is a yearly exchange. At least give me something with a ridiculous name or label.

I always chuckle when I see the "craft beer variety packs" at Total Wine or wherever. Magic Hat 9 is always a prominent fixture, which I suppose is the least rancid of their product line.

I don't know how others' may have worked, but I'm doing one where we picked 12 categories of beer and randomly distributed them among us. Each person is responsible for getting a beer for each person per style... so you theoretically should end up with 12 unique beers in the end.
