Not a bad player, but not at all worthy of that contract. He's fast but nothing else really. Besides kind of fragile. All Swedish, no finish. With no term, I'd think, "why not, it's an NHL body..." but iirc, there's heavy term there. No dice.

It's tough because you have to use him, but I really like Matt Hackett. It doesn't do the Pens much good to claim him of course...but if I was the GM of a younger organization that needs a goalie prospect of some regard, I'd be calling Tim Murray at 12:01 tomorrow after he clears and asking if I can pry him away for cheap...

I still regard him very highly. He's a long term guy because he doesn't just play pure butterfly and he'll have to adapt to the speed of things but his upside is high in my opinion. Though, like I said, I think he clears pretty easily because who thinks he's an upgrade on their #2 right now...?

Dany Heatley on waivers, and I imagine he will clear. Man, has his production ever fallen off a cliff. It feels like he is 38, but he is actually only 33. I wonder if anyone is willing to take a chance on him? He is UFA after this year, and only $1 million salary. Not much risk there (other than the fact that he just isn't that good anymore).

You can. Nothing in NHL rulebook/CBA against it. Just doesn't happen as waiver priority changes.
