I've heard ice hockey is easy for goalies because in roller hockey you can't from move side to side directly.

For the record, my Mylec goalie pads were brown.

That's on par. 6 of 1.bhaw wrote:I was referring to dek hockey, actually ;)meow wrote:How dare you label me as a roller hockey goalie - the highest of all insults.bhaw wrote:Of course it doesn't matter for goalies who only face bright orange balls and wear white Mylec pads. :slug:meow wrote:Stick tape color doesn't matter on your blade. Do not use black on your knob, though. The dye eats through your glove's palms.

Yeah, the movement in the crease is much easier. But they do have these slider things for roller that you can use to shuffle in the crease...they're illegal in most pro circuits and major tournaments though...dodint wrote:I've heard ice hockey is easy for goalies because in roller hockey you can't from move side to side directly.

Oh yeah i always forget that meow only views hockey from the perspective of a goalie. The only perspective from which its not incorrect to dislike inline hockey. As a skater, its way more fun.

Given the current/pending economic problems in Russia, it will be interesting to see how much of a hit the KHL takes in the next year.
How much of the league is bankrolled by oil money?

If the Russian teams are paying their players in rubles, that's a hard sell to keep them around, if they want to convert their salary back into dollars, for example.

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
There are 3 teams in particular that are requiring or will require league intervention to survive right now. Paychecks delayed, etc.
Players are generally paid in rubles, but there are some exceptions to that, AIUI. Not all teams are in Russia. The Jokerit players (Helsinki) are paid in Euros, so are the Medvescak players (Zagreb) AIUI. Some imports may have other arrangements, I can't speak for all the dealings (underhanded, or otherwise) that happen in the league. Even in the NHL, sometimes other arrangements are made. Up until 2004, former defenseless defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron was paid in Canadian dollars for whatever reason...

The only time they ever don't blow the whistle on icing is when there's a chance for a dangerous collision. Someday I'll either understand this rule or they'll make it go away. The latter is more likely.

Alert for meow and others: Andrei Vasilevskiy (2nd best goalie prospect in the world, in my opinion) will start in 7 minutes vs. Philadelphia. His first career go at it.

First and probably goalie that I've ever seen wearing the number 88.mikey287 wrote:Alert for meow and others: Andrei Vasilevskiy (2nd best goalie prospect in the world, in my opinion) will start in 7 minutes vs. Philadelphia. His first career go at it.

He's the one who made the "grand tour" last year (Olympics, ECHL, AHL, NHL)?

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
He has never been in the american pros till this season. He's been fun to follow and has looked great at high level international play. He has definitely never been close to being an ECHL guy. He had been holding off on coming to America because he wanted to be in the NHL...or was advised to wait for that...but determined it would be best to get over here.

That sounds like Latvian Lightning goalie Kristers Gudslevskis (forgive the possible spelling error(s))...MRandall25 wrote:He's the one who made the "grand tour" last year (Olympics, ECHL, AHL, NHL)?

Quality outing from AV tonight. Gets the win, surrenders just one power play goal in a Lightning 3-1 win. Welcome to the big leagues...

Vasilevskiy had no chance on the goal, either. A Streit bb with Simmonds throwing a screen? Never chance, that's what you got.

Yet another reason to fire Bylsma. He never put Brooks in the shoot out lineup.

The service rep at my Toyota dealer is from Long Island, so we got some hockey talk in ( which is a rarity in this part of the country). He admitted that the Tangradi mugging was not their finest moment.

Can we put an end to the Martin Brodeur experiment, please?
