RIP to a great man and hockey legend.
One of the reasons I started studying the history of the game was to learn more about the legend affectionately referred to as "Le Gros Bill"
The personification of class and grace on the ice and off. The very definition of a winner in every sense of the word.
RIP Jean Béliveau (1931-2014)

Nicest thing I've seen written about Mr. Béliveau this morning:
Nick Cotsonika @cotsonika 2h hours ago
All you need to know about Beliveau: His name was on Cup 17 times. His number was in rafters. His name and number were in phone book.

Beliveau scored the first goal in Penguins history, against them. It was Beliveau's 400th NHL goal. It was in October 1967 in front of 9,300 fans at the Civic Arena, including me.

When Mario first came into the league the player he reminded me most of was Jean Beliveau. Of course, then Mario became Mario. But they were both French Canadian, and both had a lot of class. RIP Jean Beliveau.

I saw a photo; the canadiens are having Jean Beliveau's seat at the Bell Centre made into a never used seat!
They have the jersey colors with 4 covering it. Extra very cool, that he sat with the general public folk.
Mario/Luc Robitaille at the funeral.

Watching the funeral Mass today on the NHL Network, I spotted Mario, David Morehouse, and Ed Johnston there sitting together.
