Niskanen with a bit of a questionable knee on knee hit. Could have really hurt the guy.

Remember that time st louis "cried" his way out of tampa while scoring like 7 points in 3 games?

Seems like Voracek factors in on 98% of flyer goals.

That's their whole offense. Giroux is a passenger. The idea that he's a captain/leader is a joke, even to the fans. My in-laws are disgusted that he's in any leadership role.

Simmonds would be a better choice.

Artem Anisimov out 2-3 months with a torn tricep. And the hits keep coming for Columbus.

Should have traded him...MRandall25 wrote:Artem Anisimov out 2-3 months with a torn tricep. And the hits keep coming for Columbus.
What's funny is that the hockey gods will reward CBJ with the top overall pick. CBJ-Pens will be the top 2 teams in the east for years to come, with an intense rivalry.

Seems to me the Rags have assembled a nasty/speedy/skilled team to go with an elite D and perhaps the league's best tender

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
On a totally random note, it kind of amazes me how Ovechkin has become such an afterthought in the NHL these days. He just turned 29, so he's obviously in the prime of his career, but his star status has obviously been dimmed because of the poor teams he has played on over the last several seasons.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
It's really ridiculous how much the hockey community doesn't respect him. I find myself defending him more often than not now, mainly in light of that minus-500 season or whatever he had...people made a mountain out of that and now discussing where he ranks among NHLers is like that old Sportscenter commercial with Charley Steiner and Evander Holyfield...
Stuart Scott to Evander Holyfield: "Charley says you're the 50th best heavyweight..."
Evander: "...of all-time?"
Stu: "...in Georgia."

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
I think it has more to do with the caps being mediocre. Hes still better known than tavares, and id rather have tavares. Hes known on the level of kane or something, and id certainly rather have ov.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
Its more afactor of the hype machine. He was touted as one of the best, a game breaker, but hes very much a one dimensional player. As I've argued in the past, these players have a place on winning teams, but you cant really have more than 1... And you probably dont want to base the whole team on their shoulders. But thats exactly what happened to OV, and the result has been predictable.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
IMO, Ovi peaked between 23-25 years old. He hasn't been close to the same player in recent years. Despite some good numbers, he's on a slow, but significant, decline. Most forwards seem to peak 24-27 these days.
This season, he's been pointless in 12 of 23 games. In the other 11 games, he has 12G, 9A. He's more of an opportunist than a machine now. I think his numbers make him look better than he looks on the ice most of the time. It's not like he's doing the little things well.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
OV is OV. Everyone knows what he is. Be brings the inconsistent scoring. He brings the occasional energy with a big hit. Outside of that, his detail game is crap. He does absolutely none of the little things. Doesn't make his linemates better. He is a great finisher. I'm not knocking him because scoring is the most difficult thing to do in the game. My only knock on him really isn't his decision. He shouldn't be captain.

Quality is poor but that is one of my favorite ones.

Buffalo's playing their way out of the McDavid/Eichel race.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
But Columbus is getting in... I'd really love to see one of them go there.
Johansen and McDavid/Eichel in their early 20's vs Crosby/Malkin early 30's will be fun to watch.
That would solidify the CBJ franchise and make up for some of the bad luck they have had with Horton.
