Bylsma? Flyers?
Phillynews.com "Your first impulse is that the Flyers, losers of eight of their last nine games, can't get any lower.
Then you quickly realize they are playing their next four games on the road, where they have lost seven straight, and you wonder whether Craig Berube will still be the coach when the team plays its next game at the Wells Fargo Center on Dec. 11 - or whether general manager Ron Hextall has Dan Bylsma on his speed dial."
Stunned me.

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
Haha, Adams. Kunitz.Berube deserves only a little bit of the blame. His team has no identity, has played mostly lifeless hockey, and he has steadfastly refused to bench slow-moving veterans R.J. Umberger (without a point in the last 16 games) or Vinny Lecavalier (goalless in the last 12 games) for an entire game and send a message: Produce or sit.

Yes, please.
Make sure someone sends HCMJ a copy of Ice Hockey for Idiots if this happens so he knows DB's playbook.

I'm pretty happy with Berube being there...no reason to allow a coach to actually use a decent crop of forwards better...

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
For the record, my comment was assuming Berube was canned. It's much more entertaining watching Bylsma, who was so awesome that there would be teams lining up to hire him if we ever fired him, remain unemployed. And I don't feel bad saying that since he's actually being paid to be unemployed.mikey287 wrote:I'm pretty happy with Berube being there...no reason to allow a coach to actually use a decent crop of forwards better...

The benefit of adding Bylsma is that the Flyers already know his system.

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
Stretch passes are Michael Del Zotto's specialty...the rest of that defense (outside of Mark Streit) can't pass...so it would be an interesting (read: hilarious) fit from that aspect...

The Flyers will definitely make changes. They're really a bipolar team.

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
The Flyers could go all in and hire Shero too, thus reuniting Ellwood and Jake.
And, as an added bonus, hiring the son of a Flyer icon.

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
Berube got the obligatory "his job is safe" statement from the fly boys.
The hiring of Blysma as flyers coach would break lgp.com and local twitter. And the flyers.

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
Disco Dan doesn't know more than Berube does. It's the team just playing like crap except for the 1st line, the goalies and rookie Scott Laughton. I expect this to get worse.

God am I happy Dan Bylsma is gone, it would be joy to my ears to hear Philly picked him as their next coach.

When I saw this thread bumped, I thought he was named head coach.

He's an upgrade over berube. I'm by no means a bylsma fan, but I wouldn't wish them to rid themselves of berube.no name wrote:God am I happy Dan Bylsma is gone, it would be joy to my ears to hear Philly picked him as their next coach.

Re: Bylsma? Flyers?
Actually that makes sense. let them hold onto Berube and if by some miracle they make the playoffs then hire Dan B. as their playoff coach.canaan wrote:He's an upgrade over berube. The Flyers need to play the Penguins in Pittsburgh because that seems to be the only team they can beat. : P

Can you imagine how far Bylsma could go coaching the best player in the world?
