SJ needed a lefty. DAL needed a righty. Good hockey trade.

Wanted the RHS with higher offensive upside. Dillon - as many players with limited hockey sense - has plateaued. His best season was his first in the NHL.

I'm guessing they want Dillon for a more physical defense, then?

Seems like it.

Major salary eaten by San Jose which is very surprising to me...

Normally I'd go "ehhh, no thanks". But with Dupuis out long term, Bennett's status in question, a general lack of NHL-ready depth, and Galiardi being one a one-year deal... why not?

Yeah, pretty ubiquitous forward...a general fork and spoon operator, but he would make the fourth line better. The question becomes if you want to lose a contract spot on that...but I really think he could improve the fourth line. That said, I won't lose any sleep if he passes through...

I can't believe it wasn't a slug like Thorburn that was waived...but they must like him more than I can comprehend...

By my count, they're sitting at 47 contracts. Using one of the remaining 3 spots on Galiardi probably wouldn't hurt. If nothing else, it'd put Sill on a bus back to WBS.

There are 50 in total listed on CapGeek. Jarry and Kapenen come off for sure but I'm not sure about Sundqvist.

Sundqvist doesn't slide. He's 20. Injured reserve does not affect the contract limit to the best of my knowledge.

Nothing official yet but sounds like Blysma might be the next coach of the Sharks soon. I couldn't reaaly imagine a more perfect fit.

Martin Brodeur will be given a practice tryout with the Blues due to Brian Elliott being out week-to-week with a lower-body injury and not having a real viable alternative.

It'd be weird seeing him in Blue but if the Devils didn't want him so be it.

There's retention in this deal (26% I think). Ducks lost Beauch until January. They "lost" Clayton Stoner too, but that's hardly a concern.

"@CanadiensMTL: Canadiens sign forward Brendan Gallagher to a six-year contract extension. http://goha.bs/1zFV43a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; " $3.75M AAV.

Looks like a very good deal for the Habs.
