I dunno, when there's a guy in a pickup riding my bumper at night and blinding me with his headlights, I can afford to take my time.

Having a child in the car with me most times these days if someone is really tailgating me I'm pulling off and letting them pass.

i don't play games when the kids are in the car. if i'm by myself, it's game on. especially since i only drive on 25mph roads most days of the week. very low risk.Pavel Bure wrote:Having a child in the car with me most times these days if someone is really tailgating me I'm pulling off and letting them pass.
i'll actually make a complete stop in the middle of the street if i'm being tailgated and there are no other cars on the road. this has the highest success rate of them backing off, since there's no confusion of what i'm doing, and they now know they're dealing with a crazy person.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
After being in a moderately serious car crash (I wasn't driving, my brother was), I'm very conservative on the road and get angry whenever someone else is driving and I'm in the car with them and they're being aggressive/whatever. It's not worth it, regardless of who's in the car with me or not. Being in a car crash sucks and I'd rather not have that happen again.

It's usually not your choice. My mother has a perpetual fear of dying in a car crash. Makes it a real treat when she's a passanger.

OMW to work yesterday I had a young guy in an orange Pontiac up my ***. The speed limit on this stretch of road (RT 18 N between Beaver Falls & New Castle) ranges from 40-50 mph. I had my cruise set at 60. He finally passed me on a double yellow line and sped off doing at least 80.
OMW home last night on the same road I got pulled over doing 66 in a 45 zone. The cop was cool and reduced it to 50 so its just a fine - no points.

Have been passed in a double yellow going 5-10 over by idiots going 80-90 on that stretch too. Never a speed trap when you need one.
Got pulled over in Warren for 65 in a 45.... Only reduced to 6 over so 2 points but... Better than 4.

Yeah, when someone is driving like a nut behind me, and I'm by myself, I do the break check/ speedup/slow down games until they get the drift.
But when my kids are in the car, I just deal with it or let them pass.

I like up to date draft lists to be available online as well. Some places do this quite well. Others, well... I hate you, others.
