Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
If I was struggling with keeping pucks out of my own net, Connauton would not be someone I would call upon to remedy that.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
I don't think Columbus is struggling to keep pucks out of the net necessarily. They really just need bodies to plug into their defense. Tyutin, Murray, Prout all hurt. Wiz's hand is still an issue, Jack Johnson can't play defense, and Jordan Leopold is a body.

I don't like Prout. MR25, your thoughts? I think he's a slug and ought to be salted.

I mean, I could take him or leave him, but it's a body that could be filling an injury spot.
Also, sorry. Prout is healthy. Cody Goloubef is the injured one (and I think he's better than Prout). I tend to get the two mixed up for whatever reason (3rd pairing guys is probably why).

My last post was completely baseless, other than the fact that Columbus is losing games. It appears goals against hasn't really been a problem in the last 2+ weeks. My point still remains, however.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Andrej Nestrasil (DET) and Matt Frattin (TOR) on waivers today. Neither are really worth a claim, but I say that before knowing if Pascal Dupuis has fallen into the center of the earth or something...
Neither are notably skilled really...Frattin is strong, but he doesn't do much. Nestrasil had his skill zapped by the structured game a little bit, I'm honestly not sure what he's capable of...but he hasn't looked particularly useful this year...both are warm bodies...

A bit high, but that is a pretty good deal for both sides.

I think he's very talented, an excellent playmaker. One of the better second-tier playmakers since the lockout...a little more care and he's a lock for 80 points every year...

I guess that's my problem. Not enough fire, which is fine. Not every player needs to run through walls.mikey287 wrote:I think he's very talented, an excellent playmaker. One of the better second-tier playmakers since the lockout...a little more care and he's a lock for 80 points every year...

How much determination can you really expect from a guy who laughs like he does? He does the best he can...

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
I like Spezza. He can be a lot of fun to watch. But I feel that's a bad deal for a one dimensional 31 year old player who has only very rarely looked like a star in the playoffs. I can't think of another player as large who is routinely manhandled like he is. You won't find many in Ottawa who think he's worth it.
But I guess it might make sense for Dallas with two young stars on playing with very favourable contracts.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
It's been an organizational mantra to increase center depth. They gave up Chiasson and some magic beans for Spezza, and they only need to give him a $500,000 raise to keep him...and he's looked good with the glimmer twins...Dallas has to do it. But you're definitely not wrong. He's no Doug Gilmour...

If spezza wasnt the least interesting personality ever, people would be more ok with that contract.

How is Spezza the least interesting personality? His laugh alone makes him in at least the 50th percentile.

Anyone who spends more than one year living in Ottawa becomes one of the least interesting personalities ever by default. It's unavoidable.meow wrote:How is Spezza the least interesting personality? His laugh alone makes him in at least the 50th percentile.
