It would be a long ride on your motorbike on the PA turnpike for you jokers to get to the casa de shmenguin beer cellar.

Dark Penance was excellent! Lots of piney hops up front that are mellowed a bit in the middle by the roasted malts. It's an all hop finish, though. The bottle had it labeled as 100 IBUIs, but I didn't find it unbearably bitter at all. A bit on the boozy side, but overall excellent!
I can't really speak to comparisons within the style, as I'm honestly not sure I've had another imperial black ipa. I will say I'll be picking up more of this soon, though!
I agree with this review. The bitterness at the end was a little more than I like with a dark beer, but overall it was very good. Better than other black IPAs I've had.

Hoppy Poppy IPA. Figueroa Mountain Brewing. Light orange color in the glass. Medium malty backbone but not overly sweet. The poppy seeds added slight grain smells. Hops were not over powering in nose or flavor. No sticky pine resin.

Billed as a West Coast IPA, this was more on par with a APA.

Easy drinking ale.

Had the Game Of Thrones dubbel last night on tap. Seemed like it was missing flavor.

It's not often that I hate on a Belgian beer, but I won't be revisiting this one ever again.

it's bourbon county season. how is everyone proceeding? stalking local stores? making road trips?

i'm bummed that it's a black friday release. it's easier for me to bail on work than it is to get out of the house on a holiday.

I know everybody is tired of pumpkin beers, but Pumking for 3.75/pint is not a bad deal.

Sierra Nevada Celebration on tap at the hotel lounge. Christmas season just began. Great malty beer with enough bitter to balance.

Had an Ithaca country pumpkin, I've enjoyed more pumpkin beers this year than anytime before for whatever reason. I like the subtle pumpkin flavor, this is another good one.

Why would you choose southern tier as the base comparison for a weizenbock / dunkelweizon? Are you referring to goatboy?
