Wow. I've always been very thankful for my father, the role he's played in my life, and the time I've spent with him, but a story like that just makes it hit home even more.
As sad as Hamonic's story is, it's just as sad that he's managed to find kids who have lost a parent for every Islanders home game for the last three years. It really makes you feel for those kids, but what an amazing thing he does for them. Beyond the tickets to the game, but offering himself as an outlet and a mentor to the kids as they go through an unbelievably difficult time in their life.
Best of luck to all of them. Hamonic has made me a fan for life.

Aww, what a great kid. He has a heart of gold and I wish him all good things. You never quite get over losing a parent, especially when you were particularly close to them.
He also has one of my all time favorite hockey gifs whenever I hear unbelievable news.

It's like a lot of players in the NHL - you can hate him as an Islander, but it's impossible to hate him as a person.count2infinity wrote:well this will make it harder to not like him, but I'll try my best. incredible stuff.

That was a great thing to watch. My dad passed away from a massive heart attack when I was 13 on Christmas day. I was very quiet and for years I never wanted to talk about his death. I have overcome that. It's great to see Travis take these kids under his wing and help them. I am now and forever will be a Travis Hamonic fan.

Shared it on FB forgetting my wife's bestie lost both her parents at a relatively young age. Goes to show its one of those things that can affect anyone regardless of how they may be carrying themselves on the outside.
