Re: TV Shows
I am intrigued by The Affair on Showtime. It's a cool concept kind of cut from the same mold as True Detective, but they need to start making stuff happen fast or they're gonna lose people

Re: TV Shows
Arrow is outstanding. As Tfrizz pointed out to me earlier it really starts to pick up after about episode 6. I'm on episode 13 now. Haven't watched Gotham as of yet, but that shouldn't be a problem as I don't do anything of Monday night anywayPensFanInDC wrote:Going to start Arrow or Gotham. Which should I choose?

Re: TV Shows
Blacklist
I really enjoy Spader's character, but maybe because I binge watched the first season, I find the show to be formulaic. Which is fine. But we get the criminal o' the week. Then the FBI agents gather around and look at computer screens, and explain things to each other and their clueless boss. At least two of the agents become "experts" in whatever the criminal o' the week is up to - drugs, arms trafficking, poaching, etc. Then they have the computer guy look up/hack into something. Then one of the agents gets in near mortal danger, and Reddington saves the day.
Sure, you say, formula composes most television series, especially network shows. I guess networks need to keep it simple for the advertisers to understand?![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
It's still a good show, I just laugh when they start talking and looking at the big computer screens. And Keen's hair.

Re: TV Shows
Your post 100% accurate. And to your spoiler, I watched on Hulu last night with no issues and I still didn't fully get what was going on.
I was also right about the 'big reveal' about what was behind the door. Nothing much...

Re: TV Shows
1st episode of Arrow was really good. I am blown away by the production value. It also doesn't hurt that the eye candy is rather exceptional too.

Mitch Hurwitz is re-editing season four of Arrested Development so that the story is told chronologically. This is a good thing.

Re: TV Shows
I watched the Playing for the Mob 30 for 30. Very interesting.
Essentially it's about the 70s Boston College team that shaved points for Henry Hill, aka who Ray Liotta played in Goodfellas, Jimmy Burke, aka who DeNiro played in Goodfellas, and their mob friends. It was really cool and paralleled the film.

Agreed. I wonder if I will enjoy it more because the original cut of season 4 was just weird.Dickie Dunn wrote:Mitch Hurwitz is re-editing season four of Arrested Development so that the story is told chronologically. This is a good thing.

"weird" is polite. it flat out ruined the entire season.cheesesteakwithegg wrote:Agreed. Yeah, I was so excited for season 4 because of how brilliant 1-3 were, and I had to force myself to finish it.shmenguin wrote:"weird" is polite. it flat out ruined the entire season.cheesesteakwithegg wrote:Agreed. AHS Freak show has definitely gotten better the last two episodes. Interesting where it will go after the last one.

Re: TV Shows
I'm interested to see where it goes. Matt Ryan, who plays John Constantine, says he would describe it as "between Grimm and Hannibal" in terms of content. I've never seen Grimm, but Hannibal is fantastic - so I've got some reasonably high expectations for Constantine.Chefpatrick871 wrote:Anyone else watch Constantine? Seems like it might have promise.
