The ravens defense will make this win an afterthought come this Sunday.
If you had asked me before the Colts game, I would have felt more confident about them beating BAL as opposed to IND, simply because of Luck v. Flacco in terms of exploiting our greatest weakness, pass defense.

Also, they appeared to bench Cortez Allen in the fourth yesterday. Thank God.

Yes, and looked who grabbed a nice interception while covering TY Hilton in the end zone (Antwon Blake)

Allen will be back out there matched up on an island with Steve Smith.

The announcers made a passing reference to Lebeau really tearing into Allen on the sidelines yesterday

Last 2 weeks haven't been luck or outliers as far as offense. Just regression to the mean.

Posted this before yesterday's games (humble brag). Red-zone TD % shows no correlation on a season or weekly basis. Its just small sample size. Steelers had a really good offense all season, just had a bit of bad luck

Ravens, @Jets, @Tennessee, bye week then Saints. The Steelers should be 8-4 after the next 4 games. They'll be 6-6 with 3 losses by a combined 14 points and an ugly 20-13 win over the Jets.

The Saints are eminently beatable on the road. I hope it's 10 degrees for that game.

Wow. That family went through hell, glad to hear everyone is doing better. Pretty sad that guys forced to stay away from their teams due to criminal activity continue to collect paychecks while a guy who stays away to care for his wife and child goes without a paycheck. He's a good punter, I expect he'll find work eventually.

Interesting article about people not showing up for Steelers games. The Rooneys count butts in seats, not tickets sold, unlike another team in the city.

I would count tickets sold. It's a sellout, not a butts-in-seats out.

"Mr. Rooney, attendance is down."

"You're right, we should do something to improve attendance."

"Make changes to make the team better?"

"Nonsense. Activate Phase Two of the Yinzer Appeasement Protocol: more fireworks and bobbleheads."

If youre a business...which pro sports teams are...thus the "pro" part...it matters to you whether they were just sold vs whether someone came to the game.

Apparently it only matters to the Steelers and Giants. I'm not discounting the need to know how many fans actually show up to the game, but for the purpose of categorizing a "sellout" the only thing that matters is tickets sold. That's how it is for every team in every sport. Steelers and Giants just feel like being different because that's how they've always done it and change is bad.

It matters, yes. People buying tickets but not going is not a trend that is sustainable because people will eventually just stop buying as well. Unless you're the Steelers who have season tickets sold out for the next 20 years. However, for reporting purposes in regards to attendance, a team can't re-sell a ticket for someone who doesn't show.

Shazier and Troy both out against the Jets. Of the Steelers top three picks one can't stay on the field, one isn't allowed on the field and one keeps going on the field even though he's worthless.

Two things:

- James Harrison is terrifyingly strong.
- Maurkice Pouncey has really skinny calves for weighing 300 lbs. Calves are just the worst.

Yeah I've never really understood using calf muscles as a measure of physical fitness. If your body is carrying a ton of weight, of course you are going to have bigger calves. Obviously it's nice to have them toned, but more often than not, big calves means your legs are bearing more weight than they should.

I'm assuming Maurkice does some stretching.

"He's killing it right now," Rice said. "I had an opportunity to talk to this guy, and he tried to get in my head. He wanted to know my workout regimen and how did I sustain for so many years. I just told him it was all about work ethic and never getting complacent and never getting to a point where you can relax now."

The Steelers don't have to worry about that as they head into Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Brown's work ethic is becoming legendary around team headquarters, and twice a week during the season he will go to the gym after a full day at the Steelers' facility and work out. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he sometimes has to tell Brown to tone it down a notch in practice so he doesn't wear himself out.

"His work ethic and demeanor and attitude are just unbelievable," Roethlisberger said of Brown.
As Steelers fans, this has to be exciting. Sure, his celebrations are somewhat annoying, but this guy is completely bought in to being the best player in the league. I love this.

The level of Browns diva behavior pales in comparison to some of the other elite WRs that have been in the league. As long as he can back it up and not cost the team with stupid penalties, I don't really care.

The Bengals/Browns game surprisingly didn't impact the odds on the Steelers making the playoffs/winning the division that much. Their odds will take a noticeable drop once they lay an egg to the Jets this weekend.
