Jyrki Jokipakka Dallas D man playing his first game tonight

pronounced - yerkee yokeepocka

A most excellent name! Right there at the Hanz Hockeeponts level.

Still odd seeing the Devils w no sign of Brodeur- first time since Providence's Chris Terreri was the starter.

CAR winning the cup seems like ancient history...that's also creeping up on our favorite team.

Is it too early to award Darcy Kuemper the Vezina? Obviously not sustainable in the long run, but a pretty impressive start with three shutouts in four games (and his one loss being 2-1)

Tampa Bay is cheating with their forward depth. Not fair.

Which is pretty stupid as far as his career goes. He will never be in a better situation than what he had here for his style of play. He simply is not, and never will be, the go-to guy, but he is about perfect as a supporting player. If his ego wouldn't allow him to recognize that, it's his loss. If he doesn't care about that, and is happy just playing with his brother instead, then more power to him.

Most teams have a guy like him as the #2 center...or wish the did. The blackhawks come to mind immediately.

Second line center is rarely a "go-to guy".

The ridiculous thing is only two - Stamkos & Drouin - are early first-rounders. Kucherov is a late second-round. Palat, a late seventh-round. Filppula was a 3rd-rounder by Detroit, as was Killorn (for Tampa). Johnson was undrafted.

Offensively, that team is incredibly well-crafted from within.

I wasn't home last weekend, so I'm not sure what happened, but...

Two weeks ago, the Pens were supposed to be on the NHLN, but weren't, so I had to watch an illegal feed, despite being a Game Center subscriber. Tonight it was supposed to be Boston and the Leafs (which is not available through GC) and, instead, it's Detrot and Philly.

If this pattern keeps up, a lot of out of market hockey fans - who pay for both the NHLN and Game Center - are going to be really **** pissed off.

I think that I've given it enough time to say that the new HNIC pre-game show is utter crap.

Really pretty good in my viewings. That entire defense has played pretty well all things considered. Niskanen especially has been strong, he's come a long way in his career...I guess maybe he really is a middle pairing d-man...
