Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
So I kegged my cider over the weekend... didn't realize how much of the sugars ferment with cider compared to beer. In beer most of the time there is still residual sugars that didn't get fermented out, so I put brown sugar in my cider to bump it up to a level that I thought would give me 7-7.5% abv... every last sugar fermented and now i've got a 9% cider. woof. Pour a sample last night, it's really good, even with the high alcohol content. More like an apple wine now rather than cider, but still tasty.

Now onto the good news: STONE FINALLY HAS A VARIETY PACK. Perhaps this was available elsewhere in the country (presumably easily in CA) but saw it for the first time ever in PGH today and picked it up. IPA,Ruination, arrogant bastard, and their black IPA.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Went to Hough's for trivia tonight.
Duclaw 31: Spiced Dunkel. I think it may have been a "pumpkin spice" beer. Kinda tasted like a gingerbread man, but not a whole lot of pumpkin taste.
Ommegang Scythe and Sickle: I believe BA said it was an Amber Ale. Slightly hoppy. Decent beer, though.
Got a free Yards Saison pint glass.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Came *this* close to picking up the Sierra Nevada Snowpack variety pack at the distributor tonight.
Boomerang IPA (supposed to be solid)
Pale Ale
Coffee Stout (new brew)
Porter
Their stout is one of my favorites in the world so I'm sure that will be good.

I don't think I've had their stout, but that sounds like a good candidate for a goto case to keep in the fridge. Been thinking about a solid stout to have on supply.

Sierra Nevada's price point can't be beat, and their stout is absolutely rock solid.

Anyone else get a headache from drinking beer. Not talking about being hung over. I mean about an hour after drinking only one beer?

sometimes - yes. i think hydration and having something in your belly helps solve it.lemieuxReturns wrote:Anyone else get a headache from drinking beer. Not talking about being hung over. I mean about an hour after drinking only one beer?
though i get hangovers like they were going out of style, so i'm not the best source.

I switched totally to cider (gluten free) and do not get a headache at all. It's the only gluten free thing I do. Angry orchard.

it may be the gluten for me. i'm your inverse - beer is the only gluten i consume.lemieuxReturns wrote:shmenguin wrote:sometimes - yes. i think hydration and having something in your belly helps solve it.lemieuxReturns wrote:Anyone else get a headache from drinking beer. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Specifically, what beer are you drinking that gives you the headache? You may have an allergy to ingredients that you never knew. Lots of people have issues with macrobrew offerings.lemieuxReturns wrote:Anyone else get a headache from drinking beer. Not talking about being hung over. Search Poison in beer.
Sorry to hear, because a fresh brew from a minimalist brewer can not be beat.
