Off the wall Hockey Question

Post by Skatingpen »

I was reading the excerpt of Tootoo's book and was curious if you think hockey players drink alcohol more than the other major sports? I seem to see a lot more articles and stories about how hockey players are known for drinking more frequently.

Am I off base here or do you agree? I am curious to know what you think?

It was an issue for Red Sox players to have beer taken out of the clubhouse. I'd be inclined to think all the major sports drink just like men aged 20 - 30 drink.

I would guess football and hockey are 1 and 2 (not in that order necessarily) because their players have to deal with the most physicality which leads me to believe that they're more sore and in more pain and then want to ease their soreness with drinking.

All sports probably drink their fair share of alcohol. Baseball players would be be my first guess because you have 3-4 days in a new city with nothing to do, so out of sheer boredom I'd think they'd drink more, followed closely by hockey players then football in 3rd because while they travel half the season things are closely regimented as to when they travel and they won't have a lot of free time in an away city. With BBal in 4th. Those are just my guesses
