It adds up. 3 seconds * 365 days * 2 times a day = 36.5 minutes a year. Now imagine the amount of water wasted and the amount of money associated with it.PensFanInDC wrote:That extra 3 seconds makes all the difference haha

I mean...we, ya know, talked about it...and I'm sure we brushed our teeth at the same time before...Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:How do you pick up toothbrushing habits from someone else? Did you brush her teeth for her? I have no idea what pattern my wife uses for brushing her teeth?mikey287 wrote:For a prolonged period of time, for me, it was: toothpaste, brush. No water.
Now, I'm usually: water, toothpaste, water, brush. But can skip that second water from time to time...I had a girlfriend that was weird with toothpaste, so, she had some extra water steps that I picked up by association and did not shake them...

I'd guess an average of 2oz per 3 second burst on the brush.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:It adds up. 3 seconds * 365 days * 2 times a day = 36.5 minutes a year. 2oz x 2 times a day x 365 days = ~11.5 gallons

Wash your face with a warm wet washcloth before shaving. The shower should be last, and the fact that this even being debated makes me question everyone's patriotism.Pavel Bure wrote:You should shave after a shower. Hot water softens the beard and opens the pores. Use cold water with your razor though.mikey287 wrote:Not extremely related: I find brushing your teeth with hot water to be yucky...
EDIT: I shave after a shower.
That said, I tend to take cold showers because I most often am showering after a workout. The 8 or 9 minutes of washing or whatever is in water that's as cold as I can stand, then I heat it up to steam temp for maybe 2-3 minutes at the end.

I shave post shower and I never have any razor burn or skin issues. I'm only shaving a neck and cheek line though. Real men have no need to shave their whole face.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
The neighbor across the street from me is one of the few houses on my street with a garage (most houses on street built pre-1920s) Of course they don't use it. There is a middle aged husband and wife living in this house. The guy has a work cargo van, an extended cab truck, a 1980's Buick, and then the wife has two modernish sedans ( I know this because I have seen them in these cars over the past year). The only cars I ever see being used are the one modern sedan and the guy's work van. The other three cars just sit in the same spots for weeks. As far as I know this guy isn't a mechanic, he is just a general contractor. This only started late in the spring. I wouldn't be bothered by this but those cars that don't move take up parking spots for our guests like this weekend when we host a birthday party for about 25 people. We can fit two cars in front of our house but now guests will have to use the rest of the street (which is a giant hill) and find parking by doing some parallel parking maneuvers or hope some psycho neighbor doesn't mind them parking in front of their house and then trudge to our house. I guarantee someone will complain.
Blah, I know it is a public street with no assigned (no, I am not going to go Yinzer and put a chair aht there) spots, I know we could have the party somewhere else, and I know we could always ask the neighbor to move but I just felt like venting.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
If the cars are not moved, the town may have an ordinance regarding that. (Possible abandonment?)
I only know this because my Dad was undergoing chemo treatments and mom had foot surgery and she hadn't moved her car for over a month.
They got a warning from the police on their car. My brother raised holy hell with the proper officials and they haven't been bothered since.

When people who are in a individual bathroom that has a lock on it (like in a public place and it is its own seperate room) and its in use and people don't lock it. Wtf. Just walked in on this stranger taking a dump

in the same light, I can't stand how a lot of public bathrooms make it so that after you knock, you can't hear if anyone has said that it's occupied or not. I like how port-a-potties have done it with the "in use"/"not in use" signs by the handle.Letang Is The Truth wrote:this probably isn't irrational or a pet peeve but this seemed like the right place
