I really, really hate the residue feeling after a shave. So I wash my face in the sink, shave, get in the shower and moisturize my face with Dove soap. I get out and I'm fresh and clean, it's great. I don't use/need aftershave.Troy Loney wrote:Shaving before the shower is nonsense. do you wait till after the shower for aftershave?

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
I think the pet peeve are people being slobs. My morning routine is shower, eat and drink coffee, then brush/floss/listerine.
But, you'd be kind of slovenly to get toothpaste on the outside of your mouth.

it takes about 90 seconds for my sink to get hot. i'm not waiting around (or wasting water) just for this purpose.PensFanInDC wrote:How can you not use hot water to brush your teeth?

I have the same problem so I just let the hot water run slowly at the sinks. I don't pay the water or electric, she does.

I like having the warm water soften up the hairs.dodint wrote:I really, really hate the residue feeling after a shave. Happens more than you might imagine. But mainly in the corners.Troy Loney wrote: But, you'd be kind of slovenly to get toothpaste on the outside of your mouth.

Yea. I've accidentally done this when half asleep and my reaction is always, "yuck" followed by putting cold water on the toothbrush or reapplying toothpaste and using cold water.columbia wrote:Yeah, I've never heard of that.shafnutz05 wrote:People brush teeth with hot water? I can't stand cold water while brushing. I don't use steaming hot water but I like it warm. I'd say around 98.6 degrees or so.

If we can't agree on the water temperature, at least maybe we can agree on the correct order of teeth brushing components as: water, toothpaste, water, brush.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
I usually just do toothpaste then water mostly because that is how I was taught growing up. I've tried water, toothpaste, water and it's not enough of a difference for me to waste the time and water to put water on the brush first, and then do what I normally do.
Most of my morning routine choices are based on taking the least amount of time as possible so I can maximize my sleep and get out the door in time to catch the train without having to speed to the station like a madman.

For a prolonged period of time, for me, it was: toothpaste, brush. No water.
Now, I'm usually: water, toothpaste, water, brush. But can skip that second water from time to time...I had a girlfriend that was weird with toothpaste, so, she had some extra water steps that I picked up by association and did not shake them...

How do you pick up toothbrushing habits from someone else? Did you brush her teeth for her? I have no idea what pattern my wife uses for brushing her teeth?mikey287 wrote:For a prolonged period of time, for me, it was: toothpaste, brush. No water.

Pretty sure brushing your teeth isn't intrinsic knowledge.
