Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
They wanted to not expose Tokarski to waivers and he beat Budaj for the job. Tangradi not being claimed off waivers allows the team to control their destiny with him. If they claim him and then waive him and send him down, maybe Winnipeg re-claims. Now that they know he cleared, he's worth slightly more to a club because they have that flexibility up and down. They were also trying to unload a one-way...

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
It just seems odd... if you are just giving him away, waive him and potentially keep Budaj as your #3 in case of injury. I get that they are not off the hook for $1.4M, but it is just an odd overall situation.
In the other thread you said that Budaj is on waivers... So Winnipeg trades Tangradi for Holland (who does not seem like anything special) and a backup goalie... who they then immediately waive as well?
In the end, both sides of this trade make me go "ummm... what?"

He (Budaj) wanted out, I believe.Jim wrote:It just seems odd... if you are just giving him away, waive him and potentially keep Budaj as your #3 in case of injury. I get that they are not off the hook for $1.4M, but it is just an odd overall situation.

The Jets got a fine #3 and they control him (if he clears). They lose some salary and a contract...
It's best to not focus on it Jim, this is just one of those housekeeping type deals that only make sense to each organization and not to anyone else...

Yeah, it just seemed like two GMs were board and made a trade just to make a trade.mikey287 wrote:He (Budaj) wanted out, I believe.Jim wrote:It just seems odd... if you are just giving him away, waive him and potentially keep Budaj as your #3 in case of injury. It helps/makes sense for both of them in their own little way. These deals can often be good relationship builders.
It struck me as I was typing this...I believe this is the first player for player deal that Kevin Cheveldayoff has ever completed...and it's with two players who were waived and a pending bust...gotta start somewhere I guess...

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
Is hockey really that unpopular that the season opener is relegated NBC sports while NBC is going to be showing NBC nightly News aka "¡Ebola!" and "¡ISIS!"?
NBC doesn't do hockey any favors.
I'm pretty sure I bring up this same point every year now and during the Cup finals.

Yes. Nbc news will get better ratings for nbc then any hockey game tonight would.MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:Is hockey really that unpopular that the season opener is relegated NBC sports while NBC is going to be showing NBC nightly News aka "¡Ebola!" and "¡ISIS!"?

Perhaps the Leafs are starting to...Panik.

This is not time to...Panik.

Making knee-jerk...Panik moves are no way to run an organization.

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
Does Columbus really have that much depth? I thought for sure he'd get a long stint to show if he really has it or not. That bums me out.
