Had warlock for the first time last night. It was good, wasn't in love with it though.

My case of Nosferatu is almost gone... Need something else.
I may finally be able to drink my Warlock this weekend, it will finally be cool out.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Had a Lost Coast Raspberry Brown last night. it was basically a light chambord with chocolate coming through. The raspberry was not overpowering, but I didn't get that much of anything else. One works great, but it's not something I would want to drink a lot of.

Just finished up a couple bottles of Spaten Oktoberfest. A full flavored malt style with a nose of yeasty bread. Very slight hop bitterness. Good carbonation and frothy head.
Pour this into a stein, pair with a big pretzel, invite friends over and chickendance the night away.

Temp change query: I picked up a Trois Pistoles from the Jig and they only had it in their fridge section, so it's cold. I normally wouldn't drink this cold, but am wary of sitting it out to get it back to cellar temp.
Anyone know if funky stuff would ensue by leaving it out?

Monk's Cafe: Flemish Sour Ale
Poured deep red into a chilled tulip glass. A very powerful sour smell was present from just the pour. The nose was sour, not in a vinegary way, but from the fruit.
First taste is pure Lambic style, with just a hint more sourness. The flavor never turned bitter and was nice and crisp throughout.
A style outside of my normal preference, but this was a perfect deviation and am happy to have tried.

I go back and forth between this and Great Lakes as to which one is my favorite Oktoberfest, though I think I'd choose Spaten by a narrow margin if pressed.BigMcK wrote:Just finished up a couple bottles of Spaten Oktoberfest. Paulaner took over for my favorite, Spaten just started popping up in the shops, so I will be testing this shortly. GL is always good. I was impressed with the Church Brew Works Ofest as well.stopper40 wrote:I go back and forth between this and Great Lakes as to which one is my favorite Oktoberfest, though I think I'd choose Spaten by a narrow margin if pressed.BigMcK wrote:Just finished up a couple bottles of Spaten Oktoberfest. Should be fine. Temp change, unless very extreme, not a big deal.Eismann wrote:Temp change query: I picked up a Trois Pistoles from the Jig and they only had it in their fridge section, so it's cold. I normally wouldn't drink this cold, but am wary of sitting it out to get it back to cellar temp.

Also picked up La Trappe quad and Unibroue Terrible.
La Trappe is very good. Exceptionally smooth but lively.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
So two or three years ago, we went to a craft beer bingo event at a friend's house. It was a fun time, but one person just happened to bring Rogue's notorious Bacon Maple Voodoo Doughnut, also known as one of the worst craft beers ever made. Flash forward to last weekend, my sister-in-law, who happened to win the beer that evening, suddenly shows up at our house with that God-forsaken pink bottle, which now sits in my fridge. Of course, this beer is retired, and I highly doubt it will ever be made again. Will this be worth money some day, or should I foist it on some pour soul (my mother) this weekend?

I could have sworn I just saw that in the store the other day. You sure they stopped making it?

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm not a big red ale guy but that stuff is good. Great Lakes is good stuff.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
If anyone gets the chance, go to Great Lakes. They have pretty good food and some beers that aren't available for purchase in stores. My suggestion: go on a Saturday for lunch then go over to the West Side Market. Place is incredible.

That sounds dreadful.
