Harding expected to miss at least 2-3 months...

Post by tfrizz »

... after breaking his foot by kicking a wall following an altercation with a teammate.
Josh Harding, arguably the Wild’s No. 1 goaltender heading into Thursday’s training camp, broke his right foot while kicking a wall after an off-ice altercation with a teammate and is expected to miss at least two or three months.

I feel safe with the Backstrom pick, I can jettison him when people get back if he isn't playing...he's going to be my 4th goalie anyway.

Kuemper isn't signed yet though. He's got some leverage now.

It seems like Kuemper's demands are so low that they are stupid not to negotiate. I believe that I read he is asking for under a million on a 1 year one way deal. They want a 2 way deal. So insane, especially after what he did for them last year.

I know he is simply asking for a one year one way deal while the sticking point is that they want a 2 way deal.

Yeah, he's asking for like 1 year, $850K or something...that will get done, I can assure you.

They're MUCH closer than Johansen and the Jackets, that's for sure.

Harding suspended by the Wild for having a non - hockey related injury. Minnesota loses his cap hit and does not have to pay him for however long he's out.

Kuemper is a two-year, $2.5 million contract

Harding believed to be out for at least two months.
Soon after the meeting, Fletcher made the decision to suspend Harding. During the time he recovers, Harding won’t be paid a prorated portion of his $2.1 million salary and he won’t count against the Wild’s salary cap. The paperwork was filed and all parties were notified late Thursday.
In the meantime, Fletcher said Thursday night that Kuemper’s signing won’t affect Bryzgalov’s tryout. If Kuemper’s not one of the top-2 goalies in training camp, the Wild can sign Bryzgalov and assign Kuemper to Iowa of the American Hockey League without waivers.
If that happened, Kuemper would be paid his $1 million salary there. Bryzgalov also gives the Wild insurance if veteran Niklas Backstrom were to get hurt.
